Spurs signing him doesn’t make any sense. Plus Mourinho’s already said that kind of signing is out of their league.

Apparently Fernandes’ brother is his agent and handled the potential moves this past summer badly. Hope he’s better advised now. Or that he doesn’t end up going to Spurs

Raiola's a good agent I've heard!
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Very discreet - hope we cross his path one day
----------------------------------------------------------------------
If we do I doubt we'll hear about it really.

On a serious note, this bit did stand out:

‘Though the Manchester Evening News now claim that there is a “high possibility” that there will be no new arrivals at Old Trafford.’
----------------------------------------------------------------------
That'll be an absolute disgrace
----------------------------------------------------------------------
The manager is under pressure, would be stupid to sign more of his players when it looks unlikely he will see the season out.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
What? We are in 5th spot, despite having no creativity in midfield. Surely you back the manager and give him some creativity and give him a chance of making the top 4?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
You have 2 midfielders that cost 150m between them in Pogba and Fred. If Ole can't get creativity out of those options then he should have identified that in the fooking summer surely

His signings so far have been no better than average and still nowhere near enough improvement either individually or collectively for me to think United are on the way back. Miles away and the longer Ole stays the longer it will take imo.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Erm, Pogba has been injured all season and Fred (who wasn't his signing) has as much creativity as United We Stand.

And how do you know that he didn't identify a suitable midfielder in the summer, but was let down? Ed was bumbling about taking on one transfer at a time.

Yes, he has started 5 of our PL games so far (2 assists).

As I said, you have no idea what happened behind the scenes and whether Ed let him down. Most managers will say that they are happy with what they have got going into the season, otherwise it can affect morale.

As for the RB spot, we needed a new one and AWB is a good signing for me. Not great going forwards, but still time to improve. But the defensive areas are a completely different conversation to the midfield.

For once you actually make a valid point on our board.

This was pointed out by many in the summer.

.......

And two of those transfers could have been concluded in the first two weeks of the window. Instead Ed managed to drag it out all summer long and ended up paying the same price the clubs originally asked for.

Nobody knows for sure what happened but i'll take Ole at his word that he was happy with his dealings.

Then i judge how well his signings have done.

Maguire - Decent until you remember he cost 80m and doesn't appear to be an elite player.
AWB - Good defender, missing in action creating or attacking.
James - Good buy but squad player.

Then i look at Uniteds performances which have been pretty poor on the whole when United are expected to dominate the game. Good performances have been games v bigger sides playing on the counter. Results show the same thing.

Player improvement - I don't think anyone had United has improved as a player under Ole.

For me that is damning on Ole. Not one area where i can say he's done above average for someone who is leading Manchester United.

It’s not just because of the creativity in midfield that we struggle. Management and the quality and style of our front three are also the reasons why.

posted on 3/1/20

Has Ole really improved Williams or Greenwood? Or are they just youth players who are good. It’s debatable whether he’s even improved Martial as he’s just as inconsistent as he was under Jose - invisible against arsenal after a couple of good games - same with Fred who summed up his United career with that free kick which is still travelling to the planet with the water on it from Intersteller

The only bonafide improvement we have is Rashford and I think Southgate has to take some credit for that too - his improvement goes all the way back to that goal he scored against Bulgaria in October

McTominay is debatable- he’s doing well but useless in the smaller games as he has zero creativity and too slow to transition. Much better option in the big games. Back in SAFs days he would have been the ‘third’ midfielder in those big games to tighten it up a bit

The discussion is about Ole and the lack of creativity you have. His signings are fair game in that context.

Most managers when they aren't happy about signings will let someone know one way or another and we heard nothing of the sort from Ole.

You are letting him off the hook for some conversation you think he possibly could have had. How about judge him on the facts we have.

Signings have been average, wrongly prioritised, performances v smaller sides mostly a slog, a few good wins thrown in v better sides, little player improvement, little style and little experience. All points towards the door but United fans at this stage are gluttons for punishment.
