And I love how people talk about ‘agendas’ , this sites buzzword for people you don’t agree with
If you don’t rate a manager it’s not an agenda. It’s an opinion and it’s really not like Ole has done much to change minds. The one time in his United career I did warm to him and wanted to back him - then one of the worst runs in United history happened and it turns out my ‘agenda’ (see how I abbreviate it) was more fitting with the reality of the situation.
I’d say people like Rosso (good poster) is more of an ‘agenda-haver’ as he’s arguing in the minority here - he loves the United youth, Ole plays them. So he’d seemingly rather see Ole stay and be out of his depth just because (some of) the youth are played
Of course, I could just be speaking nonsense but the point here is that if Rosso feels qualified to talk of agendas based on nothing but people has I gotta very valid major doubts about Ole, he can equally be accused of having an agenda
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Agendas are exposed by those who demonstrate clinically blinkered, bitterly entrenched partisanship, Robb.
The kind of people who, once they have picked a side, will, in the face of a greyscale continuum refuse to give an iota to any opposing view, let alone in their stubbornness consider revising their position.

Most managers when they aren't happy about signings will let someone know one way or another and we heard nothing of the sort from Ole.
------------------------------------------------------
Solskjaer's mentor didn't. Either Fergie was happy with the club's backing in every single transfer window we had (including the one where we reinvested the Ronaldo money in Valencia and Owen during those wondrous 'no value in the market' years) or he was true to his belief that there should never been a sliver of public distance between the manager and the chief exec.
It's really hard to say who takes responsibility for the shortcomings of last summer's recruitment. We have no idea what Solskjaer's and Woodward's relative input and weight in decision making were.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Comparing Ole to Fergie is like comparing apples to eggs.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Come on Fash. You said no managers would be disappointed about their club's backing in the transfer window and keep quiet about their disappointment (Ancelotti springs to mind). There are plenty of other examples of diplomatic managers, but Fergie is the most relevant one because Solskjaer has acknowledged he's the biggest influence on him. This has nothing to do with their respective abilities as managers. It's just refuting your factually incorrect claim.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
You are aware I’m repeating what Ole said so you guys are suggesting he said he was happy even though he wasn’t but there’s just no evidence of that
----------------------------------------------------------------------
He can still be happy even if he didn't get every player he wanted. Not really sure why you are putting so much value in what he said. Managers talk a lot of $hit for effect.

Someone actually argued yesterday that our players had gone backwards wholesale under Ole, then when given counterexamples, argued that those particular players were simply “on form”
Some people’s agendas are laughably transparent.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I know. My favourite today being that Ole only has us in 5th because the other teams have been so poor. These are the same people that are clamoring for Poch, who only managed to have Spurs finishing in the top 4 because 3 of the the traditional big 4 teams were well below par whilst he was at Spurs. Otherwise he would have been finishing in 4th or 5th place, just the same as Redknapp. To be fair to Redknapp, he has actually won a trophy too.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Wow, is that genuinely how you see Poch’s time at Spurs? Amazing
----------------------------------------------------------------------
No Robb. Not completely. But it is basically the same argument you have used to deride Ole having us in 5th. There is however some element of truth in it. Poch did a good job at Spurs on the whole, but he was lucky to some extent that the other big teams are/were so below their usual standards. He was also very lucky with Spurs route to the CL final - especially in the early stages of the competition.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I’d say they earnt that ‘luck’. They didn’t spend a single penny that summer nor did they play at their own stadium for the group stages. They still went onto beat City and Dortmund and an extremely good Ajax side. That achievement is something that alone will get him a ticket to manage at the biggest clubs let alone how he was already thought of as a top up and coming manager much like Klopp was when he left Dortmund

I do think that’s harsh on Pochettino. You could also argue that he was unlucky to be around while City and, to an extent, Liverpool have been so good. It’s hard to win domestic trophies when a team as good as Pep’s City has been hoovering them up, but everybody judges Pochettino by his failure to win one. Even Klopp hasn’t won one yet in England!

I do think there are a couple of madmen but on the whole people are willing to discuss properly when given the opportunity. I’d say this article for example is done in good spirit - I think on forums like these it’s hard to really get an understanding of just where people stand unless you literally said - name 5 things Ole has done well and 5 things he hasn’t - without that it’s very easy to label someone as an agenda driven hater

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Indeed. The distinction should be made between arguing with an agenda and arguing in a way that reflects a particular viewpoint. Rosso acknowledges his passion for the club's heritage of drawing on home-grown players. He wants to see them do well and he'll grant them the benefit of the doubt for longer than most. That's where he comes from. His posts embody those tendencies.
What I don't see in his contributions is a dogmatic defence of any youth product regardless of the shifting evidence. Arguing with an agenda is about refusing to cede any ground that might weaken a predetermined viewpoint. UWW is a prime example of this. Solskjaer is clueless, so every aspect of Solskjaer's performance must be interpreted in the most negative light. That's where you get these tautological absurdities like "he has cluelessly assembled a terrible, terrible squad, and he has cluelessly failed to get considerably more from his players".
What would peoples opinions on Emre Can be?
Yay or nay. And while we’re over there anyone still want Mandzukic? He’s literally not even played a single minute of football this season. Please no
That said, I acknowledge that people defending Solskjaer can stretch their interpretations of events a bit to support their viewpoint, e.g. I agree that judging Pochettino on his last few months at Spurs is pretty unjust.
Mandy went to Qatar. Can is the German Matic.

There are one or two on the United board who are utterly infamous in this regard.

Yep, and two of our traditional rivals have sacked their managers for poor starts
.....
And you want us to appoint one of those sacked managers. You really have no limit on the depth you will sink to, have you?

This. If it's not a long-term upgrade on Matic, it's not really worth it.

Lingard really needs to be sold this summer. He’s a complete waste of a squad number nowadays.

This. Why the hell are people putting him in a United midfield?

I wasn't looking closely but I assumed they were doing it ironically.

A diamond with Pogba holding? I think you might be right.
