Armstrong is playing out his skin just now for Southampton

never replaced him
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Was thinking that, every time i watch them he seems to be at the heart of their good performance when they muster one up.

Better player than i gave him credit for.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I was very glad when he left Celtic.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I'd take him.

Lets wait for Southampton to get relegated or buy a new shiny toy and we can turn him into the next Mo Johnston.

I think Kris Boyd is one of the biggest wastes of talent we've ever had in Scottish football. With his ability in front of goal he could have went on to bigger and better things than Rangers if he had the right attitude. But he got to Rangers, decided he'd made it, and opened a sharebag of monster munch rather than putting his head down and working hard to be the best he could be.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I think that's a bit harsh. He scored plenty of goals, though he was never going to be the fittest player. That's where he let himself down most.

There are loads more players that could have been better than Boyd but f@cked it cos they thought they had made it.

Scotland's got a shocking history of good players that could've been great.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Maybe a wee bit harsh but I genuinely think he could have been a fantastic striker if he had looked after himself and had the right attitude. Ultimately he'll always be a good goalscorer that wasn't good enough in the biggest games, and that's his footballing legacy.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I'd agree with that definitely. Naismith (whank) made far more out of his career.

I think Boyd's style was out of date. He would've been better suited in a 4-4-2 in the 70s or 80s.

It didn't help that Rangers in Old Firm and Europe under Walter Smith played one up front which didn't suit him and he would often not start them anyway

He definitely didn't have the work rate needed for it. His legacy is diddy slayer but probably the best goalscorer Scotland has produced in his generation

His Old Firm, Scotland and European scoring record is honking, mentally he did not have the bottle for the biggest games, that's his legacy.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I see his legacy as outscoring Henrik Larsson.

The other parts are but a footnote.

Smith was a very good Manager and he never played him as he knew he didn't have it at that level.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
But he also knew he didn't have the squad to make that work out and his tactics had to be different for Europe. It was horses for courses with Smith. Laying all the blame at Boyd's door isn't right..

Exactly.

Better players than him have been benched for certain games in order to play a certain way.
He was never going to stop a team playing out from the back and chase loss causes.
Bit of lazy revisionism on here. Nothing new.

Leigh Girffiths is a far superior player to Boyd and Shankland.

Hmm. I like Griffiths as a player but that's very subjective. Also Shankland could develop into a better all-round footballer in the coming years.

Can't wait to have United back. Can pump you 4 times, if you make top 6.

It will be nice for you to finally get a win against us if it happens. Couldn't have been easy watching all those pumpings we gave you in recent years.

My favourite question to ask Rangers fans is to name all the teams in the Premiership who have never been relegated. It gets them into quite the pickle.

Back to United, our reserves have beaten QOTS reserves 7-0. We had a strong team out and saw goals from Pawlett, Sow, Cammy Smith x 2, Trialist and Davidson x 2.

I think the top league has missed United and I'm looking forward to their return. Lets see if they can sustain this. If they do, they should have enough to stay up when they return.
