Morning all
Last nights game was a poor showing. The most frustrating thing for me was that Derby could not impose their game on a well drilled decent League 2 side. The second was, why did we keep lumping it forward when Northampton's defenders were dominating Marriot in the air?
I think the pitch had a bit to do with it. It’s hard to get any sort of passing game going when the ball might bobble just before you play it or just before you receive it. But it was disappointing we played with so little adventure. Without Holmes or Lawrence we didn’t have a player who would try to run with the ball though Whittaker tried when he came on.
Same pitch for both teams, one a bit more used to it but not an excuse for good players. The Baseball Ground pitch was awful but I remember some cracking stuff being played on it.
