Strange to me that people think to bring in a player that certainly has talent and a point to prove is a big risk, when they have seen what Bielsa has got out of some average players we have. Should we trust Bielsa or not ?.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Trust him to get a bunch of also rans playing as a team, absolutely. Trust him to get a player in and hit the ground running, trust him to get a team over the line? Jury out.

Augustin hasn’t played regular first team football in quite a while, is coming to new team in a new country and needs to make an impact in 3 1/2 months. Some of that applies to any signing at this stage. I’m not unhappy with it, the guy obviously had talent. If he’s what we need right now? Time will tell.

He'll give the fans a lift for a start, we need something to be excited about right now instead of the nerves kicking about. Secondly, he's better than having 0 strikers on the bench aswell as the kids. He's only 10 goals behind Bamford with half a season to play.

Exciting signing if it comes off.

Anyone else just worried that even if Poveda and Augstin end up being good players that Bielsa won't use them soon enough to make an impact?

Took him 2 months to start Costa and even that was only through injury.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Leeds signed one first team player in the last january window and bielsa made him a first team regular right away.

Yep, bit of pace, bit of skill... but most importantly someone who can actually call themselves a striker.

Because.....Bielsa improves the performance of most players except the strikers. The strikers need to have a certain natural goal scoring ability already, without that it doesn’t matter how much work Bielsa puts in they won’t become prolific.

I really know nothing about this player as furs everyone else here except he is 3rd/4th choice, we only see his very best bits on YouTube and I’ll bet for every good minute there are 30 poor minutes.

We see with every foreign player it takes a while to find their feet at our club and yet we have 3 months to expect new players to come in get Bielsa fit and trained and be able to come on fir 6 minutes and change a game.

It’s a massive ask.

I hope it works.

I hope he turns out to be another Yeboah.

I hope he gets us up.

The reality is we e had expectations set by the club and they’ve failed to deliver and this is them desperately trying to get someone in.

No disrespect to the player, but the club really needs to be held more to account fir this shambles.

I'm underwhelmed with this window. It's a fooking pizz
take by the club and Bielsa. But, if that's what the club and Bielsa reckon is all we need to get to the Prem, then fine. I'll back them. However, if things go T 1 tZ up and we blow it again, AR, Orta, Kinnear, Bielsa can fook off.

My only frustration is the fact we have waited 25 days to sign the players.
These 3 players could possibly all have come in 25 days ago with better planning and efficiency - certainly Poveda and the keeper. We have farrtedd around for too long trying to buy players who clearly are wanted by their own clubs and the players are clearly happy to stay where they are.

Just read an article in Telegraph about Augustin. Just says we are the front runners for his signature but Palace Brighton St Ettiene and Nice very much in for him.

Dont mean anything, i know, but just reporting whats being said. Journo could be lying for all i know.

This seems to be the player we are now focused on so if this one girs pear shaped then could be season defining.

Im sorry if i diverge from the thread but without phillips what can you see us getting points wise from next 3 games without Phillips. Millwall Wigan and Forest. I be really happy with 6 to be honest.

Well Phil Hay reckons that most of the players we have been after (Adams, Gray for instance) wanted to come, so that last part is patently untrue.

Sometimes patience gets the deal done. Signings can't always be made when you want them to be made. Sometimes a club starts off unwilling to sell but they still do. Sometimes it's the other way around.

Nobody here is versed fully on how these things work, so let's leave it to the people who are

Dodgy month January with 2 potentially 3 FA Cup fixtures so can see why teams like to keep hold of their back up players then sell end of month if they have to.

Everton were linked with him for 38m in the summer 😂

I’m know it’s YouTube but some of those goals show real ability so he obviously has something special and they aren’t just tap ins....his turn of pace and touch look special. Whether he can turn that in consistently is another thing.

He had a very good first season with Leipzig playing with some very good players so it’s a good signing on paper. Fingers crossed

my worry is we dont have long till the window closes and this deal needs to be worked out between three clubs.

we can barely sign players when there is only us and another club involved...

Could be an exciting signing for you. Hope it works out if it's confirmed.

Talking about his conversion rate, I saw he was pretty prolific at youth levels and won the Golden Shoe at the U19s (?) Euros. So might just have been fast-tracked a bit too soon.

Flip side is that progressively slipping down from PSG to Leipzig to Monaco, and getting less and less game time along the way, is sometimes a pointer of a kid thinking he's made it and developing a bad attitude towards improving himself.

Hope it's not the case.

The plan for the window was to sign a goal keeper to cover the bench if Cadillac gets banned.

Sign a replacement for Clarke.

Sign a replacement for Eddie if he is recalled.

We have obviously signed the first 2.

Adams was Bielsa’s first choice for the striker. Mine too. This lad is Bielsa’s second choice. Offs less keen because doesn’t like the risk of bringing in a player from abroad in January. But Bielsa’s gets to make the final decision. That’s how it should be and I’m glad the club back the manager.

I don’t know anything about this lad but looks like he has chosen us over a few others as mentioned by Scunner.

What I can say is that the club have certainly shown ambition with the list of targets. Have been prepared to offer big money to make deals permenant, even if just on promotion. The targets are a different world to the targets we have been used to before.

Bielsa’s very happy with the work that Orta and AR do and it’s clear that Bielsa now has more of an influence over transfers which every manager should. That was clear in the summer too.

I hope this guy lives up to his reputation, precious clubs, and previous transfer fees.

His goals per minute record is actually very good too.

We knew Eddie was leaving in October, so we have time to find out if they want to come AND IF their clubs are prepared to let them go. January is difficult we all know that.. the biggest concern is that it came to this in the first place with a loan for Eddie with a recall in it and no other strikers at the club. If this deal gets highjacked, are we left saying, 'well we did all we could'... like last year? that's the concern.

Hey let's hope he signs and bangs them in for fun, so we can pat everyone on the back about it in May

I read Monaco have told Leipzig he can move on. They’ve cancelled his loan.

There’s premier league interest but given he’s liked about 10 tweets from Leeds fans about signing I’d say he’s made his mind up 😂

True, icub, Bielsa does get a lot out of average players, but can he manage players with a little bit of attitude or individuality? When you think about Saiz, Roofe and Pontus, a great coach would have found a way to make them stay. Poveda and Agustin both have hints of indiscipline in their records, but both can terrorise opposition defences. If Bielsa can find a way to release their potential in the way he has done with Kalvin, Dallas and White, we could be in for a treat in the second half of the season.

Apparently he had options to go to Palace, St Etienne and another French side aswell as us. Easy decision really

Get what your saying but we all know players can force moves but I don’t see gray and Adams refusing to play and handing in transfer requests - from that my assumption is that they are happy to stay.
