I thought he could sign a contract to leave for free in the summer but Inter decided to pay 20m to get him now?

I'm no Levy fan but when you compare him to West Ham's.. You wanna talk chairmen? Really??

Did read on here he was going for about 150m, Greta business in fairness.

27 years old - one of the top midfielders in his position.

Shocking management of the situation by Spurs.

Why didn't they extend his contract two years before? After all Darth Levy knows everything about football 😄😄

It all comes back to wages imo.

They've shown so little ambition and they're lucky Kane is as loyal as he is.

Not really, we tried to get him a new contract multiple times he refused then we tried to sell him and no one came in for him that he wanted to go.

Refused you guys last summer apparently.

Tbh I think Madrid strung him along but in the end never came in for him.

He did similar when at Ajax running his contract down to go cheap iirc

Well happy to get the £18m for him as he’s not contributing anything now

Appreciate that some players that there's just nothing you can do for, but let's be honest, the ambition shown by Spurs has surely played a part here.

100% if youre a player in the current spurs set up and you have 2 great seasons pushing close and then you go a whole summer without making changes and improvements to the squad it has to turn your head.

I don’t think so In his case. He’s always maintained he had bigger plans than us hence my comment about Madrid stringing him along

Here’s a quote from 2015
“ "Of course I have a dream and a secret plan in my head. But I keep it to myself. ”

We offered him 200k plus bonuses but in the end he wanted out. Nothing much the club could do.

Fair enough, we'll never know - but as a fan you surely have to wonder what may have been had the club actually kicked on.

Is his dream really to play for Inter?

Eriksen was offered an ambitious salary in line with his level (which some people seem to overrate). If you look at what he has helped deliver at Spurs he didn't warrant earning any more than that.

In the end he just didn't want to be at Spurs anymore. In hindsight he could have gone for a higher transfer fee two years ago but in hindsight everything is far more simple.

Yeah I don't blame Levy for this one, we tried to get him to extend and offered the same as Kane gets I believe but the guy wouldn't sign.

Then tried to sell him but no one came in, what more could the club have done? I tell you what they could have done, they could have still got a profit for him by selling him in January before he could leave for free in the summer

To think we only paid 11 mill for him.

That's where Levy is at fault, not signing new players in that period and showing ambition.

Eriksen situation is not Levy's fault imo.

But surely the Eriksen situation is exacerbated precisely because the club hasn't shown enough ambition?

Yeah good point, you got me there and agree that's Levy's fault.

In terms of offering Eriksen revised wages to match our highest earner then you can't pin that on Levy.

To be fair, you guys may well be right and he was always destined to leave - but you can't help but feel that if Spurs have moved onto the next level then he wouldn't be leaving for Inter.

Madrid or Barca maybe!

Yes I wonder daily a lot of “what ifs” with my club.

Inter is just his way out after backing himself in a corner for a move to Madrid which never materialised
