Can’t be unhappy with that. Anyone who is needs slapping.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Especially given the way they started the game, could have got bad quickly.

We played okay but apart from 10 mins at the start of the second half City were in total control. Should have scored 3 or 4 but were guilty of trying to walk the ball into the net.

We did win obviously but had City really needed to score they would have. They just did as little as possible needed to go through.

Not gonna be critical of Ole or anyone as the tie was lost in the first leg. But tonight was just meh. Matic, DDG and Williams the only players to walk away with any credit today.

It’s one of those games where it’s not bad or good. But could have been worse, could have been better etc

Ffs we have beaten city again missing god knows how many players and how many of you are still crying and biiitching.... worse kind of fans

1st off we've lost a cup tie, which if u didnt know means we're out, yes we won the game but its about a meaningless derby victory u could get, it was their fans cheering at the end, all im.hoping is somehow we can put a run of victories together
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Do you honestly think the players saw it as meaningless?
It may have been meaningless to the likes of you who gave us no hope before the game started

De Gea was solid tonight, hopefully this is him getting back to his normal best

It's the same people saying this as when we palyed PSG in the 'meaningless' return leg in Paris...

Thought Matic was good, yea.. maybe niave for the 2nd yellow, but he was playing with both skill and passion tonight... When in his pomp, looks a nightmare to play against
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yeah I thought he was our best player, quite comfortably up until the second booking. He'll miss the game on Saturday now too, unfortunately
----------------------------------------------------------------------
He’s been our best player since he’s come back into the side for me.

Another victory at the Etihad.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Our results against the top 6 are actually pretty incredible. It's when we lose to Newcastle you gotta questionh im!
----------------------------------------------------------------------

But this mini victory just papers over more cracks.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
The other way of looking at it is, we're decent in the big games, and if we can figure out how to break down the smaller teams then we'll be up there.

Beating the smaller teams is a much easier thing to work on than being able to compete with the big boys.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

City don't play like against the teams we've struggled against. They play into our tactics. But at the same time we are suspect against attacking threats. But we did okay again against the threat.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
This is my point - we struggle because we can't break teams down. We're pretty good at counter attacking v the big teams since they're obviously less likely the shut up shop.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Poor quality in the technical areas has let us down. We shouldn't just be relying on just pace attack to get us wins. We're too one dimensional at times.

True but in the first half, Lingard had several opportunities to drive through the middle and give us real opportunities and wasn't good enough to take advantage. Hopefully Bruno can make a big difference in that regard. Pogba returning would greatly help our creativity too

Lingard was pretty poor tonight, almost every touch was extremely too heavy.
Almost looks like he is trying to hard.
I guess he is desperately trying to save his United career.

People being clouded by Matic's recent upturn. It has been proven before he isn't good enough anymore as a starter and keeping someone on £120k pw as a squad option is senseless.

Lingard would always struggle to create anything in that area. He's too easily predictable to play against. I really hope Bruno can provide that missing spark.

I hate to sound negative here but that stat, coupled with a 1-0 win in a match when you need 2 - or it may as well be a loss, are the kind of things I’m starting to associate with Solskjaer, the nearly man wins.

I enjoyed tonight’s game, but I am just not inspired.

We did see him tell someone to Fck off though. So all hope is not lost.

I just don't think he has developed awareness, never mind technical abilities.
