Agree, I'd never have a go at bamford, he has 12 so far this season and without those goals we wouldnt be anywhere near the top two.

However at the moment, if this lad is the real deal, I'd be looking to start him and then be using bamford as an option to help see games out.

Personally I think a fully fit bamford, coming off the bench against tired defenders would be a much better use of him as things stand.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

This is a joke right - you’d never have a go at bamford? Why not?

Bet like saying let’s not have a go at the keeper because he’s kept 12 clean sheets - flawed logic.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Because having a go and/or abusing a player who's struggling with confidence or form is going to sort things? You're joking aren't you?

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Meanwhile while Bamford is struggling with his
confidence or maybe you mean ego?
The club is probably on the cusp of one of its most
crucial seasons in its history since I was a snotty
nosed lad standing outside on the shale they now
call the Kop.
This is not the time for a prima donna striker and
ham actor to have a crisis with his confidence...we
need more goals and less ego!
I'm mystified by the loyalty to this striker and some of
the other players...a few have let the support down
before and could well repeat that this season.
We've been in this division for so long now the
club with so many owners, managers and players
don't recognise what's needed to get out of this
division...it's called ruthless ambition!
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It's not loyalty to anyone.

Bamford is the only recognised striker who Bielsa seems willing to play, whatever his personal traits and perceived flaws. I disagree and don't like the animations he aimed at the fans, but hey, it's reminiscent of Chris Wood and borne out of frustration is my guess. I'd also guess is it's aimed at a minority, not the majority (still doesn't make it right). For the most part I think he's had remarkably good support/backing from the terraces.

There's absolutely no point in abusing and trying to bury a player, in whatever position, if we don't have a viable alternate to replace him with. It's not ruthless ambition, it's daft. We've no idea if JKA is ready to play, good enough or will be anymore successful in front of goal.

Don't get me wrong I find PB frustrating as the next guy - but i'll not support any abuse or barracking of any of our players.

Yes my friend agree with most of your comments...
erm though I do recall you suggesting Bamford was
perhaps too intelligent for the players around him! 😀
Recently on this board a few posters suggested he
wasn't too well...so do we now believe the coach and
medics are playing Bamford even though he's ill?!
Now he's suffering from a loss of confidence...how
many excuses does he need?

Agree with your comments ref booing...this is not my
kind of scene....never booed opposition players,
never mind Leeds players...I'm just a nice kind of guy!

👍

I'll stop replying to the whole thread ……..

Well remembered I did make that comment about PB - and I still think it's an issue.

Not sure if I was comparing to players around him, but might have done, but I do think he's a bright lad who maybe is overthinking things. I do wonder if he over analyses himself instead of just trying to play his natural game. I don't know him, I've never spoken to him (apart from a hiya in Leeds a few months ago), so really can't judge him. But I've seen it before in a work environment where someone kept c00cking up and they were really overthinking things instead of just getting on with it. not saying it's the case, probably isn't, but I do wonder.

first half of u23s, nothing much to say about Augustin, touched ball about 3 times, looks very lethargic and does no defensive work or chasing back.

Cresswell looks good though.

half ends with Augustin limping off after a challenge, didn't look that heavy but Augustin is off the pace of the game.

... stop blowing smoke up him Jonty, he can’t have played that well surely

i thought he looked fat and unfit so looks as if we will be starting bamford for rest of season. not impressed at all with him

If you were watching that without any knowledge of who was who you would not have noticed him at all.

Augustin lasted a half, that was it.

Dont expect him leading our line any time soon.

As a general rule I tend to try and not have a go at players, unless it's for being lazy.

Sure sometimes I lose my temper and will, however overall I find it dosent add anything other than effect a player in a negative way so why bother.

Oh and if the rest of the forward line could be bothered to find the net then yeah maybe I'd be a little more critical of bamford.

fans are overreacting based on 45 mins in U23s

Remember how chunky Viduka was yet he was way better at converting chances than Bamford

it's his first outing in a new set up
need to give him more time to get up to speed but it is worrying that Orta and Co have hyped him up to the fans yet he's nowhere near first team standard yet

posted on 3/2/20

Peak - practically speaking the lad does need time, no question .Problem is time is against us and we just haven't got that luxury - he needs to be finding the net literally sharpish.

We could have got a fit ready to play Billy Sharpe for half the price. He may not be the quickest but quick enough and a good option off the bench who could have got us something Saturday but it's irrelevant now we just gonna have to accept what we have to play with and get on with it.

posted on 3/2/20

I agree. Was bonkers to go for a player that can't hit the ground running at a time we need one that can. And then to spend £2.5m for a short loan when a big chunk of that period will be spent getting him fit. Madness! The club management are total apes!

posted on 3/2/20

Macca.. would that be the same Billy Sharpe that failed with us previously, disliked by the crowd and wouldn’t fit the way Bielsa plays?

Give over mate.

You can’t judge a signing on 45 mins for the U23s..

what a short sighted way to look at things.

posted on 3/2/20

He must have some potential for other clubs to have been after him and he has experience of playing at a much higher level than the Championship. Maybe a good option to get for a pre season but we have acute and immediate problems that he doesn't appear to be ready to solve right now.

posted on 3/2/20

You never know though. He is an expensive asset and he may well have been instructed to take it easy for his first 45 mins thereby giving the impression he is an unfit slug. Bielsa did say he was in good physical condition but needed to watch and learn how we play before being considered for first team duties.

The way the club ignores obvious British championship player signings that would enhance the squad in favour of players we've never really heard of but sign on loan and have to pay a hefty loan fee makes me wonder if a percentage of that loan fee goes in Radz or Orta's skyrocket. Guess we'll never know but it's suspicious to me and explains why we don't do straight forward signings but only ones where maybe there is a hefty kickback for the hierarchy. I mean what other club signs the amount of unfit players like we do?

I just don't think our coaching team are that smart, Peak. The bigger likelihood is Orta bought us a turkey and it's 11 months till Christmas.

It could be Eddie and Izzy all over again. Good signings, make sense, but they can't be relied upon as saviours or short term solutions. Both long term prospects.

We should have signed someone else WITH Izzy Brown

We should have signed someone else WITH Eddie Nketiah

Perhaps we should have signed Sharp, Toney, Woodrow WITH Augustin
