I like Serge.

Sure, makes a few mistakes. But overall, he's a decent RB and we literally have 0 other RBs to play (not even including Foyth).

Our entire back line has been sheet this season. Seems harsh picking out one player.

Sanchez makes 3 mistakes every game!
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Sanchez errors leading to goals = 0

That’s how this works right?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Exactly

Plus neither of them are white.

Sanchez and Aurier are both error prone the sooner we replace them in the first team the better.

Yeah think I agree.

Sanchez not good enough on the ball, aurier too rash.

most frustration for me is what i was expecting when we got them vs what we are seeing now. Also there are lots of qualities there, just too many mistakes

I think there is hope for Aurier to become the player we'd like him to be and there are improvements in his general play under Jose.

However I'm starting to give up with Sanchez. I said in a similar article the other day that I think we've spunked 43 mil up against the wall there. So nervous on the ball and when an attacker is closing him down in any part of our half I'm saying my prayers.

The errors leading to goals stat don’t mean much. Errors whether they lead to goals or not aren’t good. Sanchez and Aurier both make far too many mistakes, missed tackles, clumsy passing etc.

Agreed on both counts.

Sanchez I want to be a success but neither side of his game are strong. Defensively he makes too many errors, and doesnt win enough physical battles. On the ball he terrifies me. What did our scouts see in him when it comes to possession. We're a team who played out from the back under Poch

tbf do penalties conceded count as errors leading to goals?
Guy could give away 20 penalties a year and have no errors leading to goals, the stat doesn't mean much

This season at least i think it boiled down to the fact we'd spent +£40m in him, that he probably needed pitch time to improve, that we are trying to make Vertonghen surplus to requirements and really need/want Sanchez to work out. May be pressure from Levy, may be it was a Poch buy so he felt pressure that it had to work.

Either way he seemed to be picking him over Verts from day one this season and it didnt really make sense.

Sanchez will be just fine. He has his moments agreed, but made lots of really decent challenges at the weekend. No way will the club just give up on him after spending lots of money. Verts is obviously on his way out, Toby will not last forever, so makes sense to keep bedding in young players so that they can be ready, when both Toby and Verts are gone, which will be only another season or so, including this one.

As a defender myself, I know what it's like when you think you can nick the ball away and natural instinct takes over
=====
I was the playmaker and an attacking one and as such, I would know when certain players are twitchy and very likely to jump in with a tackle. I used to put my body across the ball in the hope that the defender will not resist his urge to try to preempt the attacking player and ends up fouling me😂
Worked like a treat in certain players
Though others, the good ones never committed to a challenge but would shepherd me away from danger
