Forest lost, Leeds drew. Only one bad result for us tonight was Blackburn. Win tomorrow and things will look much healthier, particularly if Preston lose. With how the top 6 are playing an automatic place is still a faint possibility.

Malone who by all accounts had a good game v Swansea. Anyway, nobody can predict what team Phil will put out.

Maybe because Malone was Forsyth.

By definition if you are paid to play football you are a professional footballer. Whether you are any good is a different matter.

Derby will help those poor red dogs by getting a result at Bristol City

You put a stupid laughing face on your match thread on Saturday when we went 2 1 down to Swansea. I think that was a case of he who laughs last, laughs longest.

The Championship is so poor this season that even Forest are challenging for promotion. Remarkable what money laundering can do for a football club.

You deleted ME on YOUR match thread

Luckily I am quite magnanimous

Gutted I decided not to go tonight but with the weather and Bristol being an absolute nightmare at rush hour I think I made the right decision. Plus I’ve seen us ship 9 goals and only score 3 away so far this season so beginning to think me and my lad are jinxed.

Back to perspective.

Watching and listening to Dodie Weir, Rob Burrows and Stephen Darby talking about having MND - motor neurone disease. No cure, God love ' em, they're so brave.

A win tonight would go a long way towards getting back on track - and I can just about start to imagine a play-off final against The Red Dogs. Now, that would be a FOOTBALL OCCASION.

Morning All and COYR tonight.

If anyone thinks we are going to make top six I suggest they look at our remaining fixtures and work out how we are going to get to 70+ points

Main thing for me is a solid if unspectacular end to the season with Cocu identifying the areas he needs to improve upon for next season early

IMO we will end up between 60-65 points at a push

It’s a very unpredictable league this season, nobody wants to take it by the scruff of the neck, Derby are staring to string wins together so anything is possible. I’m sure the EFL will try to rush through any punishment if we look like securing a play off spot. They wouldn’t want us getting promoted and leaving egg on their face.

Like you Bush I don't think we will get into the top six but that's not to do with our fixtures. I don't think it matters much which team you play. Forest lost at home to Charlton last night and Leeds recently at home to Wigan. I think there is very little difference in quality between the teams at either end of the table. Games are starting to run out though and it isn't as if we have only to catch the team in sixth, there are plenty of other teams in a similar position to ourselves.

Having said that, tonight could make a huge difference. IF we were to get a win and Preston don't then suddenly the gap is four points and the effect on the team of successive away wins could be huge in terms of confidence.

One can hope Bush. Logic suggests you are right. Logic and form suggested Forest would win last night and that Derby would have beaten Luton. Norwich last year had a late run and finished up in the PL. We're at least in the raffle even if other teams have more tickets than we do

posted on 12/2/20

I meant to add - And we are on an upward trajectory and have some players coming into form. I haven't given up yet. But as you say - a good solid finish with our strong youth policy bringing in a host of new talent augurs well for next season.

Vidal I can agree re fixtures to a certain extent but IMO our current form is down to a friendly run of fixtures

Of the two games you used as examples, granted you do get a game every now and again thats a shock but when you a get a tough run like Aprils below 7 points is a good return and that would see us further away from the top 6 before that run of fixtures

Forest H
WBA A
Brentford H
Cardiff A
Leeds H

What I wan to see from the rest of the season is us no more heavy defeats, especially away, where we barely lift a finger, and to compete in the games like the above

I'm not even thinking of top six but I do expect us to have a really good season next year with 3/4 good signings

Cocu has almost had a free hit this year, in my eyes anyway, but next season if we find ourselves in the bottom third in November he could and should be in trouble

posted on 12/2/20

I agree with you. I think we are way off a promotion team anyway. If we have a strong finish it should set us up nicely for next season though. Cocu's method has been pretty obscure for much of the season but finally there are signs that something has started to gel.

The fixtures mean nothing in this division. Forest beat Leeds and then lose to Charlton. Sheffield Wednesday win at Leeds, hammer Forest at the kennel then lose 5 1 at home to Blackburn. If we keep winning we will make the play offs in fact if we win every game left we will make automatics. The title will be won with fewer than 90 points this season and automatic achieved with around 85. All still mathematically possible. Fulham two seasons ago and Watford in 2015 were nowhere at the halfway point yet both achieved promotion.

The defeatists and Jerimiahs on here can peddle their negative opinions but if we aren't going in to every game to win it then we aren't in the right business. Only admit defeat when it is inevitable. One quality addition to a team in such a weak division makes an enormous difference. We have added quality so let's see where it goes.
