It’s part of the checklist now.
23a: Services to a field or art.
24. Master in the art of wife beating
25. Acts with dignity as a representative of the empire.
His batting defense was impregnable and great commentator as well.Never afraid to express his point
Convicted in a French court. His word against hers by all accounts, he protests his innocence to this day.
He wouldn`t be the first to fall victim to the lies of a woman scorned. He claims she was skint and was after his money, `framed by a bunny boiler` could well be the case.
The only evidence was her facial injuries, which was later alleged that she admitted to a friend they were caused when she slipped over onto a marble floor, and not by Boycott.
We`ll probably never know who is telling the truth, and Boycott will have to live with his conviction.
It does not detract from his cricketing and broadcasting achievements though.
He should refuse and avoid the event, on political or ideological grounds.
Always been a corridor of uncertainty with him

Convicted.
That's really all you need to know and the idea that someone convicted of that offence should receive this honour is madness imo.
But then it's more about who you know, so not surprised.
You know what they say...
You can tell a yorkshireman - but you can't tell him much
Great batsman, even better commentator.
Well deserved and he played against some really tough bowling attacks too
As for what happened 20 or so years ago, I believed Boycott’s side of the story.

did you really...
From what I remember he made appearances in lots of shows explaining what had happened, he didn’t hide away in a corner, he didn’t look shifty, he said things as they were, like his commentary, although it was a long time ago.
To be fair, if he was never knighted due to this controversy, I would’ve had no problem with that either. It’s just that none of us were there and know what really happened. So we can only speculate.

Or we can base it on the fact that he was convicted.

and Lillee , Thommo, Imran, Hadlee and Kapil, Any batsman average over 40 in those was deemed world class
Cook got one so only fair Geoffrey does. Gooch next? He was a better player than Cook.......imo!
Boycott had 16 different opening partners for England, such was his longevity.
He averaged 45.93 against the West Indies and 47.50 against Australia, and was up against some of the finest bowlers of all time, particularly the Windies.
Looking at his record, he should have been awarded much earlier
A man that used his cricket bat to leather his better half (probably)
Ps royal awards are for w@nkers

For what? Playing a marginal (and boring af) sport and commentating on it? That’s what gets you a knighthood?
Fack off. Unless you can tell me some actual good he’s done.

His obviously very high boredom threshold deserves some kind of recognition.
