Started supporting Chelsea the year they finished 3rd in the league. How convenient

Surely if it was fake he would have chosen the best team no? And given he stuck with the club through the 80s I think any question of glory hunting disintegrates

Aww, cheers Randy!!

All the WUM's on Brummie have exposed here is the entire notion that 'gloryhunter' should be an insult is stupid. Do people who say this think Liverpool & United have massive fanbases because of geography?

The majority of people become football fans as kids, and being kids will gravitate towards the beat teams of their time. Are players like Shaw, Lukaku & Sancho (Chelsea fans) who grew up on our years of success in the early/mid noughties gloryhunters? People fall in love with clubs for a variety of reasons, being the one nearest to where you live is merely one of them, no better or worse than any other. Imagine this theory in other walks of life being as fanatical, e.g. you're only allowed to fall in love with the girl next door? A bit silly isn't it

What matters is the loyalty after that connection. Do you stuck with your club through thick and thin? That's what has meaning, not how you fell in love with said club in the first place.

Liverpool fans talking about glory hunters.

Brummie has supported Chelsea through thick and thin, it's what real supporters do. In fact some of the best times supporting a club, is when they are not doing so well.

Actually my original comment was in response to Brummie saying about the majority of Liverpool fans having no connection to the city. I merely pointed out it’s funny coming from a lad from Birmingham with no connection to Chelsea

Which many don't and admittedly I have no direct link to Chelsea!

However my overriding bone of contention with Liverpool for many years has been Liverpool fans, from Tavistock to Tromso, that couldn't find the place on a map if it hadn't been for all those league tittles and European Cups but then call me plastic!!

But he does have a connection to Chelsea, his point still stands that a lot of Liverpool fans don’t have any connection to the city their club belongs to...I got a few Liverpool fan mates down in London who hzz a be never been.

Huge generalisation there. Same could be said of many Chelsea fans post Abramovich. Huge increase in fan base once you started winning league titles and European trophies. I assume you take them to task as well Brum?

He didn’t say where their from. Brummie goes to games consistently and has done for years. He’s criticising people who don’t even know where Liverpool is etc.
Why am I bothering with u anyway lol. Moving on

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Huge increase - really?

Our attendances nowadays are nowhere near what they used to be.

Our highest attendances dwarf Liverpool's largest ever attendance.

I've personally been in crowds of 55,000 more than once when we were in Division 2.

In days gone by attendances of over 60 and 70,000 were not uncommon at Stamford Bridge, with the highest recorded of over 82k and even an unofficial estimate of 120k for a friendly (estimated because the gates were closed at 100,000 but it's thought up to 20,000 managed to get in illegally after the gates were shut)!

That said, yeah there will be many who have jumped on the bandwagon. I don't have a problem with that as long as the remain loyal to the cause whatever happens and don't have the nerve to criticise those that decide to support the next big thing that hits the top of the league!

But also i was 9 years old when Roman bought the club and my most fanatical years have been all after that happened

Well, in other news - Pep says he's staying at City even if they're in division 2!
