What i found weird about the whole Eddie, Bamford situation at leeds was that your hardly ever played them together.
——————————-

No what would be really weird is totally changing formation and tactics, to suit a 19 year old loanee who had barely started a league game ever.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Nothing wrong with changing formation or tactics when losing or drawing a game.

I swear I just read on this thread that someone thinks Bamford could start for Arsenal? Did I misinterpret what was written? Please tell me I did. I must have, right?

Because if anyone thinks PB could start for Arsenal
(or any Prem team), then they need to lay off the crack pipe. Like now.

Would have thought the big target man knocking balls down to Eddie would have helped your attack. It seemed like it was either 1 or the other never both at the same time.

One things for certain is that Eddie would have put away at least 3-4 of the chances Bamford has spurned over the last month or so. Maybe that would have got you an extra 4-6 points.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
First of all we don’t have a big target man and we don’t tend to hit that many long balls anyway. Bielsa likes a front man who works hard for the team. Eddie just didn’t do that to be fair.

Eddie will do well in a front two but he missed a sitter today when he scraped the bar. Bamford would get slated for missing that.

Eddie Nketiah did little other for us than faff about. In a different system he could have been brilliant but he didn't suit ours. Get over it. And him.

Just quote it, then you won't be in any doubt that you've been doing too much crack yersen when you wake up tomorrow.

Just watched the Arsenal v Newcastle match. Nketiah was presented with two gilt-edged chances and fluffed them both. He wasn't involved in the build-up to any of Arsenal's four goals. We did well to get rid.

We have scored 48 goals in 33 matches not that great I would say.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
In 1968-69, we scored 66 goals in 42 games, which is pretty close to what we are doing at the moment. We won the old First Division back then.

Agree. Thought he would have had a role to play but apparently bamford better. Sure bamford would walk k to Arsenals side at the moment.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Bamford wouldnt even start for our reserve.

I would argue the difference to then and now is we play a far more attacking style particularly away from home. We often dominate possession stats but then waste attacking opportunities. We rely on Bamford too much for goals and when he doesn't score it becomes a struggle. We have repeated this all season. I thought Bielsa was flexible in the way he uses tactics but I am not seeing it.
Don't get me wrong he has transformed our play and improved some players beyond what I thought was possible but given the way we often control matches I think we should beat others teams more often.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I agree with you about tactics, Cal, Bielsa is not as flexible as he was last season. He has settled on one approach and there is no plan 'B'. Does this make it harder for players? I think we do not have an element of surprise about us, so we have to work very hard to get 3 points. On the other hand, the players are so thoroughly drilled they know their roles, and each others' roles to perfection, and this enables them to produce consistently amazing football week-in, week-out. I do not think anyone could get as much out this squad as Bielsa does.
We have to accept that Bamford's wastefulness in front of goal is compensated for by his hold-up play and distribution around the box. This is probably the best use of his talents Bielsa can get out of him. That said, the frustration every time he fooks up is painful, even though we know he is giving it 110%. Of course we would love a Mitrovich or a Watkins, but would they contribute as much to our style of play as Bamford does and would we be much better off with one of them leading the line?

Eddie won us 7 points from the bench so for that I'll wish him well in the rest of his career and he seemed like a nice kid.

But when he started for us, he was really poor and could barely touch the ball. Even if he starts the rest of the season for Arsenal and scores 10 goals, that doesn't change that he didn't do enough to be first choice at Leeds.

It's a bit odd that you even have to explain it was a tongue-in-cheek comment. It seemed pretty obvious to me.

Didn't think he was as good as he was made out to be, he couldn't displace Bamford, agree with Bielsa that Arsenal used us to drill him. Wish him well but like Roofe, he's past history now whatever he does.

Nobody would even be mentioning Roofe and Nketiah at all if Bamford was converting more of his chances.

Now we have "Fat Kev" - but I was quietly encouraged by what I saw of him on Saturday. He has something to prove, by the looks of things.

Exactly

Ps- I’m not anti-bamford, but he’s been very very disappointing latley. Not his fault club only have him as striker, but some of the chances he’s missing.....

I wonder if Bielsa is sticking by Bamford and Casilla so religiously because maybe, like him, they have "something to prove"? Like him, they may be better than their records give them credit for, they may still be trying to real-ise their potential, to "come good in the end"?

I really do think it's time to give Meslier a run in goal - that Arsenal performance earned him that, surely - and Kiko seems distracted, maybe by his case?

Augustin's another one with something to prove - and he's getting minutes even though he's not really fully fit?

"Augustin's another one with something to prove - and he's getting minutes even though he's not really fully fit?"

That seems to be a bit more of Bielsa seeing him and thinking though he ain't match fit he's showing enough to say he can do it!..

Hopefully when he gets up to scratch he's the one to silence the doubters, because this fat Kev tag seems a little below the belt!..

But than, maybe he's another failure!..

Suppose its another in Bielsa we trust, but I think he's good enough to do something for us!..

me too.i was worried when i heard the assessment of his under twenty-three play and that he was fat.
but seeing him in his cameo against bristol i'm quite hopeful that we have a decent player in kev. could be very important in the final push if fit.

The kid is starting for one of the biggest clubs in the country, but was limited to 20 minute spells off the bench with us. Found it ironic.

Also don’t get this Bamford link up play nonsense, the bloke really isn’t a good player. Don’t see it at all. Wanted him replacing after the play offs and have seen nothing to convince me otherwise.
