Valuing McKenna at 7m scared off suitors, because everyone can see they are overpricing him.
They don't need to make that mistake again.
they may well look at the John McGinn scenario and see there are some half decent players out with the old firm

He's got 3 and a half years left. His price isn't going down soon.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
If a decent Championship side came in and bid 2-3m for him, do you not think Aberdeen are going to come under pressure from the player and his agent as well.
Unsettle him and bid low, his price will come down. Aberdeen aren't going to risk holding on to an unhappy player when they are being offered a few million.

They are also smart enough to realise the player will want to take the next step, so Aberdeen's need to sell doesn't come into it.
they didn't sell McKenna when Villa came in did they?
you seem to think Aberdeen are desperate for money and will accept any old offer

McKenna played quite well I thought yesterday. Was thundering into tackles
McKenna has admitted he was distracted by all the rumours, which albeit unprofessional you can understand, he has been getting better imo

No i don't, read what i have said.
It's about Ferguson wanting to take the next step, not about Aberdeen needing to sell.
They can risk holding out for a high fee but if there are no takers because of that, he'll push for a move and when he does that he's worth less.
Villa offered half of what Aberdeen wanted for McKenna, it was turned down.
They would be lucky to get that 3.5m now.
guess we can worry about that in the future then, he has 3 and 1/2 years left, if he doesn't sign a new contract by then then fair enough

I don't mind McKenna for what he is, but Aberdeen want the same for him as we paid for big jules.
no chance.
Villa offered in the region of £6m for McKenna, it was Celtic, QPR and Forest I think that offered half of that
It was deadline day so Aberdeen told Villa to bolt

You're daft if you think that his value wouldn't decrease if he pushed for a move.
Hence why us with Morelos, Edouard with Celtic and Aberdeen with Ferguson need to sell at the right time, hold on to long and you cause yourself problems if they go public.
Some size of team Aberdeen eh WHen Cosgrove came on there was about 6 of them over 6.2 steamin in at set pieces
It wouldn't reduce to just any number though. If Morelos pushes for a move and the best offer is 2m Rangers will accept? They'll tell him to knuckle down and earn a bigger move cause that's just not a figure they're taking with years left on his deal
seems to me that Aberdeen need to sell McKenna

Agreed it wouldn't but if we set a 20m fee for him and buying sides value him at no more than 15m.
We have two choices, take the 15m offer that exists and don't risk having an unhappy player on your books (in our case, one who is a lunatic)
Or hold out that he will increase his value to buying clubs by 5m with a year less on his deal and potentially a spat with the club.
In those circumstances in my book you take the money and run.

They’ll accept whatever they’re given and they’ll be pathetically grateful for it.
Pure tugging their dirty forelock to whichever one of the OF disdainfully throws a few shilling at them.
