Liverpool on 20 titles?

There should be no titles awarded for the seasons they won. I think most are in agreement there, it would ring hollow if we were awarded extra titles for those years.

However, even if the ban is upheld, I can't see for the life of me the PL doing anything about it. Having an '*' beside a title winners name of season looks bad for the PL brand, and if we know anything about the PL is that it's brand comes first. They will argue they didn't breach any PL rules which may be the case anyway, I'm not entirely familiar with all the FFP rules

The same should happen as with Lance Armstrong, testicles should be removed.

but not handed down to the second place finisher.

Its a uefa charge, nothing to do with PL.

Yes but the PL could conduct their own investigation.

They were guilty as sin in 2012 and 2018 but there isn't enough evidence for 2014 and 2019 I've heard...

Doesn't really bother me anyway Diafol. Feel a bit sorry for the fans in fact, well some of them.

I agree with Robbing and Kash. Just the asterisk, nobody to get it.

Sort of agree. But surely there has to be a real deterrent to anyone else trying it in the future?

Yep. If the charge is upheld, just delete the trophies from the record books. It is unfair on those that finished 2nd, but no-one can take those trophies seriously or be proud of them. What a bloody disgrace if that is what happens. All those fans following their team over the course of the season, for no end result (in terms of the trophies).

In all seriousness it would be a bit hollow. I mean I wouldn't celebrate two titles that we didn't win at the time. Even though I'd like to rid myself of that 'Aguero moment' it's part of history now.

The FFP rules are apparently very similar but not identical.

Yeah I think the punishments are different too so would mean a points deduction but tbh if the current ban is upheld that's plenty for me.

Mourinho is though

Seriously, non event. utd on 22 if this is the case.

It's only between 2012 and 2016 isn't it? And the 2011/12 title wouldn't be affected.

Get Jose and the 2017/18 lads back to Old Trafford in full kit to lift the trophy with a open top bus through the streets of Manchester afterwards.

Will the Community shield for this season be awarded to Liverpool? Then the sextuple could still be on

You just know Jose would be up for that!

It's a strange situation as well because they benefitted directly in financial terms by their cheating while they were appearing in the CL for those years even if they only won the title in 2014. Which surely could be argued affected their ability to for out 10s of millions on full backs and whatever players they bought in the meantime, also we don't know what fiddling they have done since 2016. Pretty sure they were not above doing it since then.

I don't want their titles, I'm happy with ours.
The club cheated, not the manager of players, they played the teams in front of them and won.If we are awarded one I won't be counting it.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
And they played some beautiful football to win it. It's a damned shame for the city, and the players. I wouldn't want to get a title we really didn't win, either. *** will suffice for me.

MOURINHO WON THE 17/18 TITLE!!!!

The club should keep its titles, but be stripped of its ownership and executive management.

The ‘fit and proper persons test’ isn’t worth the paper it’s written on.

The titles in italy are recorded as follows

2004/05 - no title awarded. Milan still second and title stipped form Juventus

2005/06 - juventus finished 1st but as the title had not been awarded prior to procedings Inter were dcalred champions that year.

So in truth if city lost all 4 titles the record books would be changed to read no title award IMO
----------------------------------------------------------------------

It's a little more complicated. The 04-05 title would have gone to Milan but they were also implicated in the scandal and so it was not possible to award it to the runners up.

In 05-06 the runners up were Inter, who were not implicated in the scandal and so they were awarded the title.

If the premier league decided to follow this precedent then Liverpool would likely be awarded the title.

No, FFP in the premier league didn't start until the 2013-14 season so the 2012 title would be unaffected.

I am not entirely sure, bit I think the period in question for City only runs until 2016 as well. If true then the only season thay might be amended is the 2013/14 season.

It appears I was wrong (stupid wiki). Milan were 2and in 06 as well but were deducted 30 points. I am not sure why the 06 title was awarded to inter but the 05 title wasn't. The decision was made in July 06 so it was after the season.
