The driving force behind Lampard's appointment was sentimentality. The idea that we saw his one season's work at Derby as a credible reason to hire him would be terrifying lol.... but same logic would've applied if we hired Arteta. Making the plunge hiring someone so inexperienced you have to account to short term failure, otherwise don't hire them. Simple as that.
We weren't forced into appointing him. The circumstances would've thinned the options but I refuse to believe someone more qualified wouldn't have been possible. I guess the question is did the club see Lampard as a long term solution or a short term gamble? If it's the latter then he is vulnerable.
well...Lamps needs to up his game somewhere...he has his cards & has to play them well
If he suddenly get's dealt a hand where CHO RLC Pulisic & Tammy are available we might see a different game plan
If we are having to manage with utter fackin shat like Bats...it'll be what it is...the 8th place I forecast in August
I think the driving force was more to have Jody Morris working to integrate the youngsters more than anything else.
I’m not disputing that you don’t account for short term failure. But there are levels to it. And if Chelsea’s form persist there comes a stage where you couldn’t have accounted for short term failure on the scale that sees such poor results.
The idea that Chelsea won’t take any of this into consideration is mental.
Trouble is....we have overachieved this term thus far...had we been sat say 6th to 8th, not much would be said, as we'd be where most would have expected us to be given the circumstances
Because were 4th still in the CL & FA Cup...recent results have taken on a new look
It’s because you’ve been in relegation form for most of the season that it’s taken on a new look. The fact that the league has been so bad this season leaves you in 4th, despite this, is not indicative of a team overachieving.
Chelsea overachieved to win six in a row. Judging by the rest of the season that little run was an outlier and the other 20 games are reflective of your level this season, a level which is an underperforming.
