Agree OP, plenty of encouragement there last night.

Bruno does look to have that little bit of class with the ball that we've been lacking.

I just hope we carry on in the same vein until the end of the season. We got a tough run of fixtures next few games too.

Bruno will just get better to be honest

What are people's opinion on this formation? I think James is very limited when we play like this. Maybe Ighalo and Martial would suit, with Ighalo holding up the ball

Martial getting a goal which hopefully will boost his confidence as his talent has never been in doubt

Need a dominating performance against Watford. We’re rubbish at home and have struggled too many times against lower opposition.

Let’s finally get a run going.

Matic has done very well. Very impressed.

I think winning against the better teams bodes well for the future... Surely finding a way to beat the "lesser" teams is an easier problem to fix (hopefully one the likes of Bruno and Ighalo can help address).

Just gutted about the rashford injury, his goals and all around form will be hard to replace during the run in. Hopefully Ighalo hits the ground running and Martial has a good spell out wide or in a two.

Think Bruno will be a very astute signing, he has something our other midfielders can't offer.

I'm more positive going into the next set of fixtures than before. Hopefully we can actually dominate lesser teams and find a goal.

Bruno deffo has the eye for the more subtle pass in and around the box... A (much) more energetic alternative to the class of Mata.

I also liked that he was orchestrating the play a bit, pointing to where people should be or where the ball should go.

Noticed this too. Makes sense why he was captain at Sprting. does seem like a real leader too. Plus great set piece taker, corners and free kicks.

I hope he becomes the player we wanted Pogba to be, then we can get rid.

I’ve learned not to get overly excited by new players in recent years but one is for sure, Bruno is a huge upgrade on what we already have in that position.

Got to be a confidence boost for Ole that 3 of his 4 signings were key in getting the result.

You'd nearly think he had some sort of plan....

I'm delighted with the result last night and I thought we play a good game. However, the real positive would be a good win against Watford at home too.

Now and again there are signs that we're doing things right. I do quite like the 3 at the back formation as I think it suites Shaw and AWB in some games.

Shaw- He did very well in a unnatural position. Not sure what clicked for him, but that LCB position in a back 3/5 suits him a lot.
---------------------
I've been advocating this for a while. Shaw's end product is terrible but he is very good at carrying the ball - it's really difficult for teams to deal with a CB who does that and it almost always unlocks space for others. Plus he's defensively sound.

Would be quite happy for us to continue with this formation for the remainder of the season. We just dont have the wide players for a 4231.

Shaws surprised me tbh... I said before I thought AWB could be decent as a rcb in a 3 as he's so good defensively (would also mask his attacking deficiencies)... Didn't think Shaw had the brain or concentration for his side

Was a good performance yesterday and an excellent result.

Ighalo will suprise a few, I like how he pushed the defender off the ball near the throwing area towards the end of the match.

None of our attacking players offer that and that will be an issue for the more physical teams.

3 or 4 players in the summer and we would have an excellent foundation for the future.

What I liked the most about the team was the togertheness. Even with the new guys in the team, it was great to see.

They want to be here and it shows. Hope they keep it up and hope the club rewards them with the right type of signings in the summer.

Yea, it's great to see. I've said before, but if Ole's only legacy is to get us back to having a team of players who really believe that UTD is a club to play for, not just a big wage.... that will be a very good platform to build on.

It was great to see them all celebrating together. Keane said a while back he thought this was important that teams do as scoring a goal is the culmination of all the hard work you put in. Keane, as much as he looks a misery, was always one of the first to go and celebrate a goal with his team mates.

Yeah, I don't know if Bruno solves our ability to open up deep defences but he offers a goal threat on the edge of the box. Need to get him in those positions.

Even if he doesn't have the killer pass in his locker (although he does technically look a very good player) the fact he's willing to have a pop from 30 yards should mean that some space will be opened up because he'll have to be closed down. His shooting will also hopefully enable our strikers to pick up any rebounds if they're alert.
