As much as I respect and applaud Liverpool this season, I can't get away from the fact the competition they are facing are absolutely dire from the years gone by.
Look how poor the quality in the PL is compared to the teams 10-20 years ago. I know you can only beat what's in front of you, but I can't away from this fact.

I mean considering we've already won the league and can focus on the cup games, it's easier for us to do it than every other team which has the league to focus on.
Also, we're 1-0 down against a team which have no interest in attacking us, in a stadium where we beat last season's CL favourites 4-0 to make the final.

As much as I respect and applaud Liverpool this season, I can't get away from the fact the competition they are facing are absolutely dire from the years gone by.
Look how poor the quality in the PL is compared to the teams 10-20 years ago. I know you can only beat what's in front of you, but I can't away from this fact.

Of course we consider it - but to compare it against United's league record in 99, I think you're in danger of narrowing the debate into stats that don't fit.
Incredibly fortunate? I think you'll find any team winning trophies requires fortune.

Listen, this Liverpool team is doing brilliantly and will achieve great things I am sure.
But we're looking at a United side that won the PL, CL and FA Cup in the same season.
Throwing in the Club World Cup and a Super Cup just makes you look desperate. They're nothing trophies that don't have any place in this debate.

United won the league with 79 points in 1999. Now THAT'S a weak league.
