If only we had a young modern manager at the club, one that could get us to a champions league final, then given time to rebuild a squad that he stated needed rebuilding...
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Exactly. Is it any coincidence that it's the newer faces who are looking to be our better performers - GLC, Ndombele, Bergwijn, Tanganga?
I strongly disagree with wanting Jose out. He has very well since coming in; especialy considering the injuries. Although last night his tactics were poor for the 1st 60 minutes until Lamela and Ndembele came on when we massively improved. Lets get behind the team still a slim chance of turning this around at 1-0! COYS
What we need is an owner who wants the club to succeed with trophies. Levy has produced ONE trophy during his time in charge. That is totally unacceptable and he had to be made accountable. Great stadium this, top 4 that ain't gonna cut it with fans for much longer.

Lots of rage on here this morning LOL
Our most recent signings are GLC, Ndombele, Bergwijn, Gedson, Clarke & Sessegnon when what we are crying out for is a CF, RB, LB and a CB. Liverpool went & bought what they needed and won a CL and will win league title. We chased the same old types and are going nowhere as per usual.
Cant do anything about injuries (esp Son) but Levy takes the blame for Kane... Putting him on some kind of iconic Pedestal has to STOP !!!!
Of course we are light up front but we have enough talented midfielders to be able to have more possession and create decent chances even if we are putting them away with less regularity. I don't see any point burying Jose but last night was embarrassing..... I bet Nagglesmann in charge of our team would have resulted in a far more impressive home performance.... Would we have won, who knows but I think we would have at least tried to put them under pressure. I bet they could barely believe how easy last night was

I think we couldnt start with Lamela, who has been out for a while, and Ndombele seems to be better with 20 minutes than he does from the start.
I think our issue is more generally that when pressed we struggle to retain good ball. This was the same with Poch. We are more prepared to hump it long under Jose so this happens too often as an easy way out. I have no issue with this if it is planned, so down the channels, in behind the defence, but so often its Lucas trying to win a header centrally. The moment our defenders go under the press he should be looking to spin and gert down the channels and any long ball should target that.
You can see that DNombele has some Dembele-like qualities, he can receive the ball anywhere and hold it and make space, and this is key . He's just a bit flaky and doesnt offer enough tracking back. Once he sharpens up and gets fitter he'll be a massive asset in the CM.
Winks & GLC starting to create a good combo in CM.
There are some good signs, but our progress under Jose is continually being hampered by injuries, having to adapt all the time. Its difficult when we havent even really got the basics sorted.

How was that any different to the Ajax first leg? A game when we had just 1 shot on target. No Son and no Kane then either.
But we had progressive modern Poch at the helm?
Sure we were not great last night but actually making a massive thing about this being 100% Jose and his style is off the mark because we did worse in similar circumstances with Poch.

The Problem is 2 fold.... Both FBs offer nothing & Sanchez is total liability. The CF situation speaks for itself. Problem with last night was that lumping the ball up to a 5'7 CF meant the ball kept coming back and we were always under pressure. The Problem with Winks is that the ball never moves forward.... It just goes sideways, backwards, sideways and back to one of the back 4 from where it gets lumped forward. As soon as Lamela & Ndombele came on the dynamic of the game changed as both are prepared to play on the half turn, commit a defender meaning someone else has to commit to a challenge allowing space for others. The Problem with Winks (yes I know he works hard) but he doesn't hurt the opposition and because of his limitations everything in front of him is so static. With him in the side we are incapable of pulling the opposition out of their shape
Lamela can be beyond frustrating but right now, he has to play
