Rap you are missing the point. He's talking about transfer fees inflating the market no?

You're discussing club net spend and FFP.

Part of the reason the market is inflated is the telly deal(s) over here and transfers going through the roof. However ignoring how much City have spent (yes not huge sums on one individual) but median sums on a squads worth hasn’t helped either. In the same way Chelsea did when Abramovich came in.

Liverpool talks about selling and buying like its their official club policy. It was forced on you by the players with some pretending to have back pain. While others went on TV to force their way out.

Now that you've started winning titles, I will watch to see if Liverpool sells Mane or Salah or Firmino to fund the purchase of another talent. But if not, then your hypocrisy will be laid bare again..

Do you think, when we stop selling players, we’ll reach City’s level of spending?

Still haven’t been told how much your current squad cost. Can’t think why

Spending will depend on your owner.
If they prefer bonuses to squad investment, surely you're not going to blame City for that.

Where was I blaming City?

One thing I pull City on is the amount they’ve spent compared to their peers.

Still being coy on how much your squad costs

City posted the biggest loss in football history. Nearly £200m in a single season when their wages were £20m more than their entire revenue. They also spent +£100m in transfers that same year. Bailsically a club acting with no financial restriction and spending bigger than everyone else. If you cannot see how such investment does not have the potential to distort the market then you are blinkered. Plus you have to look beyond fees. wages are the much greater costs and constant.

The following year City signed the suspect sponsorship which was the largest of its kind in sport at the time despite City having won next to nothing in +40years

One thing that's not being included in those though is the signing on fees for those frees. The word free is only that you didn't pay another club not that you didn't pay the player and his agent a signing on fee

you spent fack loads on players, the market just exploded so now they arent on the list

1 player for 70 mil or 3 players for 50mil each
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Why stop at 1 player??

2 players for 150 million

posted on 21/2/20

why are people suddenly comparing liverpool and citys spend? And from when?

posted on 21/2/20

Early in the thread it was suggested City paid 60 million for Cancelo plus Danillo going the other way. They were in fact 2 separate Transfers. Danillo was sold to Juventus for 34 million. That has been one of our better bits of Business in terms of we only paid 26 million foir him from Madrid. No way was Sane 46 million 36 million yes. The other point is these players or most have given good service to City so (A) no need to sell them as their ages are still relatively beneficial to City. (B) players who have given good service like Aguero, Silva, Fernandinho will never command big fees as they are coming to the end of their careers at the elite level, So net spend will always look poor.

David Silva’s transfer works out at about £2.5m a year.

We probably make that on pie sales alone

incredible that Robertson was only 8m...
