Their effort is irrelevant. I don’t think either player would get a game for another Premier League club.
Lingard signed his own death warrant when he signed with the McDonalds chef.

Agreed. Effort is the least we should be expecting.
Fernandes hasn’t even got going imo and is miles ahead of those two already.
3 Goals and 5 Assists between them over all competitions and 65 appearances.
Bruno has a goal and 2 assists in 4 appearances.

Exactly. No end product from either. I’d even keep Mata over those two at this stage.
Lingard has always been an absolutely crap player, I had such high hopes for Pereira though. He had two good spells in La Liga and has failed to bring that form over to United.
Which means that on average they each have 1.5 goals and 2.5 assists, both better than Bruno!
Were Pereira’s spells for Granada and Valencia that good though, or were some fans just exaggerating them and his talent because he’s was youth player with an exotic name?
Whenever we hear about some youth kid there’s always a load of fans claiming he should be a regular for the first team without any real proof.

Was he that good in La Liga though? Seemed to be in and out of the side at Valencia.
The line of
Lingard is a good squad player seems to have disappeared amongst most fans now.
Never understood it myself. A good squad player is one who plays well and contributes when brought in. Lingard does neither...I imagine there will be very few takers for him. He is utterly useless and the worst united player I have ever seen to reach the appearances he has. Stick him on the market for 3-5m and get rid
Never been a debatable issue.
It was obvious at EVERY stage of his appearances that Lingard could never rise above championship standard. Pereira not as bad, but even so never above cup squad level.
Frankly, lingards over-long presence at the club (indeed this league) is an insult to not just the fans, but also to virtually every other, regular, first team player in the rest of the league's teams. Any of whom could have replaced him - he really is that far short of what is necessary

I wouldn't say he's lost patience. Rather he can now drop them as he has Bruno.
If Bruno gets injured, expect them to be back in contention.

That's got to be the most damning comment I've read in a while and I have to agree wholeheartedly . And in steps Bruno and in a couple of matches shows that the right player could do the job. I wish both well in their careers, as long as they play against us equally poorly. No more excuses - they simply didn't cut it at this level.
Tbf, Lingard went through a spell in 2017 where he was scoring some goals and contributing somewhat to the team
He had a bit of pace and energy too which meant he would have been an okay squad player in a good United team, the problem was he started a lot games and isn’t good enough to do that for a team who aspires to be CL regulars (in the medium term).
As for Pereira, when a young player makes half-dozen-or so appearances, you get an idea of what their basic, raw abilities are IMO. Rashford had some pace and could finish at 18, Greenwood already looks to be a smart, clinical finisher.
When I watched Pereira around 2015/16, he was tidy but didn’t appear to have any notable talent, nothing that could potentially separate him from your average PL midfielder and he’s done literally nothing in the four years or so to prove otherwise, he offers nothing to the team.
It’s not for the want of trying with him or Lingard and good luck to them wherever they end up, a few seasons out of the spotlight of United could see them have half-decent careers at a Burnley or Newcastle, perhaps?
I think he only played them because be had to. Pereira was given a fair chance that our fans were asking for and he's proven to be an average player.
Bruno exposed just how bad they really are. They're not even championship level.
It was criminal that we went into the season with these two as our number 10’s in the first place. It actually blows my mind that a football club the size of United thinks that is acceptable to compete in the premier league.
I dont think it's fair to suggest Lingard's entire United career has been as bad as this past 12 months. It hasn't.
At his best he was a good squad player but he's crossed the line into being completely useless, and he doesnt look like he'll get any sort of confidence back here. The guy needs a move for his own sake as well as ours. Preferably away from England, where he's now become a bit of a laughing stock.
As for Pereira, I've really never seen anything in him at all. Always just looked like another Tom Cleverley.
jesse lingard cared more about his social media, stupid videos and carp clothing line
Hes a travesty to all kids looking up at footballers and how to act
He is the luckiest man in the world that he plays football for manchester united yet couldt give a fack
he doesnt get into any team in the premier league imo and i dont even think he gets into the top 6 teams in the Championship
He could maybe ( a big maybe ) compete with Jed wallace at millwall

It's baseless and plainly untrue to say that Lingard doesn't 'give a fack'. He clearly does. One thing he's always done is graft and work hard for the team. His problem is that he simply isn't good enough. His purple patch a couple of seasons ago has long gone. We can criticise him for not being good enough - absolutely. But why invent things?
Think most will agree that Lingard has regressed badly over the last 2 years from being viewed as not quite good enough as a regular starter, (except for a few isolated moments of genius) to being a complete waste of a shirt in the United XI.
Many call out his social media stunts and antics as evidence that he has taken his eye off the required levels of commitment and attitude required to make it as a first choice player at a club like United.
However at the same time his family problems have been well documented regarding his mother's illness and the fact that he is apparently having to basically parent his younger siblings, day to day and juggle it with his fading United career.
Or is it that that the promising young local academy lad has just now flourished into a Championship standard, real deal?
Lingard’s actually a good player for footballers to look up to. He’s a consummate professional, and has made it at one of the biggest clubs in the world precisely because of this and his attitude towards the game, as he’s not blessed with much footballing ability. Him being a bit of an idiot on instagram does not undo any of this. Basically, mons, you are absolutely clueless.
and has made it at one of the biggest clubs in the world

Your definition of 'made it' is more liberal than mine.
Lingard is exactly the kind of person Keano was on about in his rant back in the day.
Not interested in getting into a semantic debate. I’m making the point that he’s had a career at United - making 200 appearances - because of his attitude and professionalism. Trying to discredit that because he uses instagram is complete nonsense.
Your point is fine Dazza. His media antics don’t bother me as I don’t follow them.
But I think Keano’s point is also very valid for him.
