undefeated meh, it we get that great but we will break the points record so that makes us the best

All depends on the metrics used to judge. I personally think us and utds 08 teams beat them. But for sure relentlessness, well drilled and togetherness of a team this liverpool team are probably the best ive seen despite the weakness of the league currently.

Current European champions and possibly undefeated. Arguably the best side.
You could though make a case for a few other sides

The mid 1990s Utd side was incredible but I think the current Liverpool team must edge it. The standard of the Premier League these days is absolutely mind blowing in comparison to even the early 2000s

Difficult to judge to be honest as no ones going to sit here and factor in all the different variables.

Isolating this season alone Liverpool have been incredible in the league. The only real shame is that they've had no competition since the end of last year and there is very little pressure on them domestically now as they know they've won it.

all this weakness of the league shiiiiiiiiiiit is just sour grapes the quality of football is as good as ever however we're just a few cuts above the rest.

Top as the standard is so high yet the machine keep winning. this side also got 97 points last season, losing one game and winning the CL.

scouser cryfest incoming because i think theyve been a bit lucky this season.

what they have done this season so far has been pretty amazing in terms of winning ever game bar one ( and who was that against again?? oh yeah, the supposed worst utd side in years .

however they have done all this without any competition from anyone else.

the sign of a great team is winning when your not playing well Liverpool have done that, but they havent been that great for a while now.

the win over southampton flatterd them massively, they were poor against Norwich, lost to Atletico and were poor last night.

would have been interesting to see how they would have coped with a city side breathing down their neck because they have either become a bit complacent or they are starting to feel the pace as the season draws on.

Yeah, it's really not

Chelsea have Abraham up front, we have Martial up front, Spurs have Lucas Moura up front.

Compare that to having Van Nistelrooy, Rooney, Henry, Drogba, Costa, Van Persie, Bergkamp, Shearer, Owen etc... all around in the same era.

You can only beat what's in front of you so that takes nothing away from you achievement. But lets not pretend there are world class teams below you bar City at the moment and even they can't do it in Europe.

We had plenty of pressure on us last night. We played like we were a point ahead of City after we went behind. Looks like the team are desperate for this invincible and centurions tag.

They don't even need ton go undefeated. Beat City's points haul from last year and they'll not only be the best team of the Premier League era, they'll be the best EVER English team.

They won a Champions League and amassed nigh on 100 points last season, that would have been enough to raise the debate. After this season the debate is closed.

"Scouser cryfest"....then you go on to have a cryfest of your own. Nice one.

The standard of the league hasn’t fluctuated that much over the last 10 years. I think the relegated sides have gone down with higher points totals as well. The there’s the nostalgia factor. Did the United/ Chelsea teams of the early/mid 2000’s always have 2/3 challengers for their titles?

Compare defenders...

Lindelof, Maguire, Luiz, Mustafi, Tanganga, Toby, Laporte...

Vidic, Rio, Terry, Carvalho, Kompany etc

For me, it goes on trophies won, first and foremost. Treble, CL + League... All the double variations that include the league etc.. Then single league win.

But that's just my own metric.

What I will say is this Liverpool team will go down as one of the best... CL in the bag, PL in the bag... Maybe more cups to come.

The argument about other teams not being as strong is weak as p-ss when every top PL team is given about £150M a season. If you can't even be competitive with that amount of cash then tough luck. It's not Liverpool's problem that you've all wasted your money on average.

2 different points. It is tough luck. People are spending money on ridiculous things.

I do think a fair argument can be made about the quality of the league tbh... UTD, Chelsea, Arsenal and Spurs have about 1 world class player each, if that.

That doesn't take anything away from Liverpool, City etc who have won it in this time.

Last season the title went to the last day of the season. How often has that happened in the last 20 years?

Even Neville said teams he played in would struggle to keep up with the demands of the game today, the games come a long way in terms of sports science etc and how clubs and players look after themselves. The game evolves constantly whether you take notice or not.

Also its practically impossible for a sport at the level that football is now days to get worse than it was, its only ever going to get better unless they destroy grass roots/academies, the money drops out the game all of a sudden.

England unders doing well is another indicator to how much stronger the English game is. Acadamies are miles ahead of what they used to be.
