Wenger did rate him that's why he broke into the first team then he got a bad injury and couldn't reclaim his place at that point. Arsenal didnt want him to leave unfortunately he saw the situation differently.

Thiught they looked good in the group stages, fancy them as a bit of a (not so) dark horse.

Good team, but can be got at.
A decent forward line for Chelsea, could and probably should have scored at least 2 tonight.

I don’t even think they’re that good tbh. Liverpool, city Juventus psg Real and Barca would beat them.

They came to Anfield at this stage last season, and looked decent.
That was until the second leg when we gave them a bit of a slapping at the Allianz.

Play the balls between their CB's and fullbacks and you could have scored. Poor tactics and quality from Chelsea. I expected more from them.

why?its our worst team in several years

Great team, but nothing about us we did not know.
We are a long way behind, and at least 5 of those players in starting line up we had on field tonight are not the quality we need to get to Bayern sort of level.
THis is going to take a hell of a lot of money, its no good saying otherwise.
Now we will see how committed owners are now. come summer because if they think they can carry on how they have done in last few years we will never get back to that sort of level

Not really a laughable comment Nick. Bayern are up there but the gulf between them & the clubs he mentioned isn't that big - if Bayern get knocked out in the Q/F it wouldn't be a massive shock.

The gulf in quality was between them and us. That's what's striking, how out of our depth we were.

You don’t think they’re that good like Wahl says then?
I think they are a superb team

Them not being 'that good' I disagree with, but all of those clubs have the capacity to beat them without it being regarded as a surprise. There's been far better Bayern teams then this one in the CL era, tonight was more about us than them.

It's going to take a very good team to beat them in the C/L this season,

This is what I was referring to when I said they’re not that good.

They’re a good team but this team isn’t as good as the Bayern side that I remember played against real in the semi finals a few years ago, let alone the one that won the treble around 5 years ago. I’d be shocked if they win the Cl or even reach the final.

Think people are exaggerating quite a bit. A Chelsea team at almost full strength has been competitive with both Liverpool (x2) and City this season, two teams better than Bayern.

So I’m not gonna lose any sleep over losing to Bayern with about 4/5 first team players missing. They’re a strong side, they were full strength and they were on it.

We all thought that R J was fast ,but that guy with the Welsh name for Bayern ! !.........
where did he come from ?

I think, in terms of performance, that was the best side i've seen at the bridge for a couple years. But yes that is judging off one game. Never seen a team, liverpool or city, move the ball like that and at such pace.

Yes Nick, one of the best team performances I've seen for a long time .I'm sure that Frank will have learned a lot from this game, and hopefully the younger players as well,a couple of our more experienced players will certainly be looking over their shoulders now..

That is this Bayern teams main strength. When given space they're capable of ruthless sucker punch attacks. Gnarby's second goal was classic from them this season.

And yes regarding Davies Harle. Put James' potential into prospective big time. Still got a way to go.

Gotta say we got schooled last night...i'd have them on a par with Pool

Might as well blood some youngsters in the return leg...that train has left the station

It was one of those games, where even tho we lost,I enjoyed watching some great football ! It's not often you feel like saying that, after being outplayed so comprehensively.
