Bamford's prolonged loss of form is one thing and it can happen to a forward. What you would not expect to happen is for a club at this level with what is at stake to be in a situation where there are zero alternatives and he can't be taken out of the firing line. The club have indeed fooked up royally on that but other players stepping forward and the resilience of the team is helping make up for it.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Effectively, we have taken the money form Roofe and pi$$ed it up the back wall.
I wish I could be that inept and still get 35k a week.
Must be really tough for him cashing that cheque.
Having been at the game, I can happily report that the fans sing their support for both Patrick Bamford and Kiko Casilla! No negativity at all!
Bamford was dreadful, was like playing with 10 men, too reliant on service. Thought Klich and Dallas were superb, the running the two did was incredible
Shotton would look good on our bench, he was very good.
Cooper should have scored more!, is that sniffer Cooper we are talking about,
Think we just need to accept that without Kalvin we are not the same side which brings me to the January recruitment which was shocking, we signed a striker who wasn’t fit and is now injured getting fit, a winger who isn’t good enough and no replacement for Forshaw and back up for Kalvin, We will go up because we are better than the teams we have to play and will get enough points

Cooper, Klich and Dallas were brilliant last night.
Worry with Bamford is he doesn't look remotely like scoring. Earlier in the season he was getting lots more chances and it seems now he's almost avoiding getting into them or when he does, it's not a proper effort to score. The one inside the box in the second half where he took a lazy swing and skied it. That was a decent chance to atleast get another corner
Bamfords all round game last time was good, but he should’ve done better with that header first half.
Everything other than his finishing is good, not quite sure where the notion is he didn’t celebrate and he isn’t involved with the other players comes from
"Yes recruitment has been awful."
Yet Bielsa said it was most impressive work he'd seen, Kinnear said every player improved the squad, Orta said how we'd hit all the objectives and quite a few on here were talking about good signings, how great Poveda is, even though he's never actually played a first team match etc etc.
We're going to have to do it without these signings, so teh real hope is that we don't lose any players for these final 11 games.
I really hope the Philips injury is done as he's instrumental to our team, but we can ill afford injuries to any of the rest of the starting 11, so thin is our squad.

As has been said, Bamford looks like he will never score again at the moment. The problem is not just him though. The number of times last night we had an opportunity for a quick counter attack but we messed around, slowed it down and then it fizzled out on the edge of their box was embarrassing. Harrison and Costa are both guilty of this, over playing, trying to dribble past 2 or 3 players and losing the ball or playing the ball across too late when the defence is packed.
I am sure this is what they have been coached to do but it is so frustrating seeing so many promising attacks just fizzle out. There is also a side effect of this. When the ball is turned over we have committed bodies forward and are vulnerable to counter attacks. Luckily the teams we have played lately have not been able to take advantage.

Maybe Bielsa is being diplomatic and has mellowed. I don't believe his comments on recruitment tbh.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I think he's always supportive of the club, its' not the 'if things aren't perfect he'll walk" syndrome we thought we'd get, I think he needs to feel there's a real breach for him to up sticks.
Maybe his perspective on things is different to ours, which is why I posted a thread some while back posing the questions what did Bielsa actually want from the window, not what the fans wanted.
So far squad is holding up, but every man and his dog knows Bielsa teams fade away and lord knows we experienced that first hand last season, I feel we need to build enough points cushion where we're not in a dogfight for the final run in.

Patrick Bamford in the championship
Notts Forest 2 games 0 goals
Derby County 21 games 8 goals= 2.63 games per gl
Middlesbrough 77 games 28 goals= 2.75 games per gl
Leeds United 55 games 21 goals= 2.62 games per gl
What else did anyone expect?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
None of those sides created half the chances we do. His around game has improved but in front of goal he’s regressed.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
At Middlesborough his side finished 5th and 4th
At Derby they finished 3rd.
No way of knowing how many chances he got at these clubs but fact is he was playing in a side at more a less the same level as us and wasnt prolific.
Throw in his 27 premier games and 1 goal i think we know historically he has never really been a goalscorer.
His 14 in 21 in League one was unsurprisingly his most prolific patch.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Sure... Not arguing on the fact he’s never been prolific - but the boro side in particular was built on defence.. my point is that allowing for the fact we didn’t buy an out and our scorer... his return is still below par for him. His goals to expected goals stat is woeful.
Historically he scores roughly 1 from 5 shots if you look season by season. This year it’s 1 in about 8.5

Klich, who does seem to escape criticism was excellent as was Harrison. Ayling, as usual had a good game. The central defenders were rocks and Cooper had his best game for a while.
Bamford is lost in terms of his finishing but his workrate was excellent and he helped the shape of the team.
Pablo looked off the pace.

Who is the best team in the Championship?
Comment deleted by Site Moderator
Agree with most of that
3 Points is all that matters to be honest, so I'm not sure I care how they come.
another 3 points on Saturday and we're looking great
Poor refereeing didn't help but we just weren't fluent, dominant selves
---------
Actually I thought the ref was ok?
If we win our next two games and then go on to beat Fulham - I’ll be calling it. That’ll take us 8 clear of them
As a minimum

yeah, thought that might be the consensus.. I'm not sure they were 'clear cut' though, you could make a case for either side? - though of course at the time I was convinced they were pens
those aside, I thought the ref let the game flow, wasn't blowing for little fouls etc.
