Referee was also great imo. Var didn’t drain anything from the game

Thought it was brilliant from start to finish, a brain fart aside.

Really enjoyed that, had something for everyone.

Thought Mahrez was incredibly selfish.

He was, but also very good at the same time

It was his reaction to it too. Knew it was coming.

At the same time it felt like if something were to happen it would be him or De Bruyne. Thought Mahrez had a good game.

Weren’t people saying City would go out in this Tie in one of Robbs articles about the champions league contenders 3 weeks ago.

Hate it when grown man are so reactionary

Absolutely. We were given zero hope. There is another leg however, and based on knock out games of last year I won’t count any chickens yet.

My problem with Mahrez is he doesn’t even look up when he leads a break. That last chance was embarrassing.

That’s the kind of thing Dembele did when Barca was leading Liverpool 3-0 last season. De Bruyne was livid with him and rightly so.

No offense but it’s the weak mentality in Mahrez game. Can’t judge moments and play them to perfection.

2-1 is not a good result to take into the second leg against the best European side ever.

And messing up easy chances just feeds into the recent break habit of missing East chances.

I know it sounds like I’m being harsh but he is playing at the highest level. That was simply poor decision making and could yet cost the team

Mahrez isn't the one to have that much of a go at though. Yes he was selfish in that moment, but he was also pivotal in us gaining back control.

I do get the point though. I was getting more annoyed at Mendy though!

Best European side ever, but for large spells tonight we looked like the home side. And that’s a million miles away from how we did last time we went to Madrid in the knock outs.

Pound for pound I think we are the better side than them at present, so as much as 1-3 would of been dreamland, 1-2 is still a huge result to bring to east Manchester in a few weeks.

And 100%. Mendy man. The guy only looks good when he gets forward and fires balls into the box. Short passing is always too heavy, and never seems to win the ball when defending crosses. Worst part is he doesn’t look ar53d when it all goes t!ts up though!

Judging walker’s performance I actually think Mendy is your best fullback. Injuries have taken away his athleticism.

You almost need a new back 4 not just defensively but also the way they keep and use the ball.

Rodri and Gundagon also lost possession in bad bad areas.

I don’t get why pep doesn’t play Bernardo deep and drop one of them 2.

Of course you are the better side. You have been the better side probably since Ronaldo left them but that means squat in the CL.

The difference between CL and domestic league games is the best teams in Europe need one chance, that’s all. Norwich will run past Otamendi and miss 5 before they score.

Real Madrid and Lyon won’t. That’s why I can’t get over Mahrez naivety. Messi knew Dembele had racked up when he missed those chances against Liverpool last season.

Good players judge moments

I really don’t get players who play with their head down at this level.

Madrid maybe poor but you benefited from decisions other refs wouldn’t make against a home team.

Good thing Ramos won’t play as he can win the tie by himself if he wants. Or lose it

Walker made one (critical) mistake. Mendy made several. Don't get too critical with some of them, they will make mistakes, Guardiolas system is complex, all of them will at some point in every game. De Bruyne made more than Gundogan did but that's fine.

Junior roasted walker all game. The left flank was fairly safe due to Gabby’s defending but then again ,depends if Mahrez is actually there to even assist Walker defensively

I get your point about Debruyne losing the ball aswell but not in critical areas of the pitch. There is a huge difference.
