How would Celtic fare in the prem?

Years ago in Hamburg I used to go drinking with a couple of Celtic fans. They were adamant that Celtic had to join the English PL to realise their true destiny as a European super club. With their stadium (at that point second in capacity only to Old Trafford) and support, and their appeal to the worldwide Irish diaspora, they had huge commercial potential that was held back by playing in the Scottish league.

Ironically, they were both passionately in favour of Scottish independence.

Celtic would be a mid table team they’d never be good enough to challenge for the title

Probably ignorance or being a wum.

Between 6-10th for me, but the thing that is often overlooked is that they'd have the resources to strengthen and therefore would realistically be looking to improve upon that quite quickly imo.

Although not with Lennon in charge.

Sheffield United with key players being guys that can't get in the Scotland team.

Although Fleck should definitely be in and McBurnie in the squad on the basis we have nobody else.

Their current side? Relegation battlers at best.

If they had the PL team resources they’d probably become European place contenders

Really? They topped a europa group containing lazio and cluj.

They also have Edouard who would surely start for most PL clubs.

Did not Wolves get battered home and away by Braga?

I would love Celtic and Rangers in the Prem, those added derbies would be brilliant. It’s a shame it probably won’t happen. Would kill the Scottish league too.

For what it's worth, those derbies still happen, and you can still watch them!

Yes I know ha. I just feel being in the Prem would add an extra element.

Yep, Sky Sports Football, which usually has the token bagpipe-based anthem, a presenter and 2 pundits cramped in a shed to talk about the match.

Hard to gauge really. Celtic in particular have often put up a decent fight against us, even when we were better than we are now. But then they also invariably struggle in Europe far more than the English clubs that tend to get to the Europa League and Champions League.

I suspect Celtic would probably float around 10th - 14th place. From what I've seen of Rangers I think they'd really struggle in the first season.

As other's have said though, once their brands were amplified worldwide by the Premier League brand I would expect them both to do well. Top 8.

Theyd be top 6 contenders within a couple of seasons.

I think they would be around top 7.

I think they would probably be relegated with their current squad.

But they wouldn't have that though.

It’s a moribund one horse race anyway.

They would initially unless they wanted to breach FFP.

Really? They are better than Norwich, West Ham, Watford, Bournemouth, Brighton, Villa and Palace as they are now.

Ffp is and remains a nonsense designed to keep the top teams constant.

Sorry, misunderstood the question.
'How would Celtic fair in the Premier League, with a squad made up of players who's names we don't yet know?'.
Err, f*ck knows. 🤔

They’d be in with a chance of top 4 this season as most clubs are in transition, hence the state of the league table
