Call me old-fashioned, Mike, but I just like having a striker who scores goals. Bamford could play for another decade without scoring and you would be saying the same thing.
Call me old fashioned but I like my team to control and win games.
I’ve had this argument for years about players like Rhodes, yes in his pomp he scored plenty of goals but his all round game was garbage and meant the team didn’t win enough games.
Now am not saying Roberts all game isn’t very good, and if he stays fit and comes on scores plenty, he will end up starting.
But I wouldn’t be changing at this moment, what has got us to the verge of promotion
I buy the argument that Bamford helps us go.
And I trust Messiah. So, as frustrated as I am,
I understand Bielsa knows what he's doing.
I just happen to think PB's sh * t when it comes
to scoring and being a natural finisher. He wastes
so many opportunities that could and should've
killed teams off. And we should've walked this
division already. Don't want us wasting any more
chances to go back up.
Bamford is clearly a confidence player but a lack of options means we have no choice but to play him.
That said, he works his socks off and is a nightmare for defenders to keep in check. Still believe he'll hit 20 which, given the situation, will be a huge achievement.
