Finally...?

Tbh, I'm still not convinced. He needs to stop tinkering with the formation, still doesn't look like Ole has much of an idea how he wants to play. Against Everton, once again his in game management was poor. First half decent, second half was not great. Ancelloti changed up his tactics and Ole was too slow to react. Score was 1-1, he should have tried to go for the win rather than settle for a draw with defensive substitution, even with that, could have lost the game if not for VAR.

Ole’s recruitment has been pretty good but that’s not what’s worrying me.

We should be able to easily identify a style/pattern of play by now. We are showing slow improvements but we are still facing the same old problems.

We lose possession or our attacks break down in the final 3rd constantly because of a lack of options. We have to much space separating our defenders from our midfielders and our midfielders don’t overlap our forwards enough when we have possession in the final 3rd.

Ole would be wise to bring in a better assistant who suits the modern game.

If nothing else, Fernandes' performances since his arrival have highlighted how truly poor some of the players we've been forced to watch really are. You can certainly see how two quality players with bags of movement (Rashford & Sancho - seeing as he's clearly a target) could be very exciting with a player like Bruno looking to get them in.

So I'm certainly willing to see how Ole can do once he's had time to bring in some genuine quality. At the end of the day, you need quality players to perform at a high level consistently.

He made some major tactical error and I have big issue about his in match substitution. However, he did good things that no one give any credit - getting better performance from Fred, Matic, McTominay.

I know it has taken a couple of windows, but a lot of the deadwood has gone, and the recruitment seems to be much better and finally able to say there is a clear strategy

Don’t think Solskjaer is the right manager to compete for the big trophies, for me he’s always been the caretaker and we are just waiting for a more quality manager to come in and take us up that extra level.

Get rid of Ole and replace him with Pochettino and you'd be comfortably the third best team in the league.

Follow that with the right investment and you'll catch us and City up, I think.

so one minute he is tactically inept.. and the next he tries too much because he makes changes based on the opposition... you cant make this shiiiite up

Slowly but surely...?

Yes, it was always going to be an up and down season. Even the Ole out brigade were saying similar in August, but then couldn't hack it when things actually did get tough.

Whilst we are not up to the standard yet, our midfield has improved under Ole and our defence has improved in recent weeks. The Bruno signing has given us a new threat in attack (already showing how bad Lingard, Pereira et al have been).

Hopefully we see another jump in level when Rashford/Pogba return. Of course we still need a few more key signings. If they have a similar impact to Bruno, then things look promising.

Fernandes performances have shown just how poor pogba has been over the course of the past 4 years.

Of course it also shows up a number of other sub par players but they arent similar players or in a similar position.

Does it?

Most goal, assists, chances created and so on last season. Not really had a chance this season. Pogba just didn't have the players on his level, we have finally found one in Bruno

Agreed, it looks promising for now. Still need to find a way to beat teams who want to sit back and let us play, but Bruno seems like the player who can help. Interested to see who else Ole wants in

Brilliant, he can take penalties.

Bruno seems to actually be able to take the game to other teams.

Pogba cannot.

Players on pogbas level? A traffic cone would be sufficient. Its funny how bruno is still managing to perform with these very same players.

Maybe, but I’m not sure Ole’s capable of taking the team to where he wants it to be. Yet again we’ve failed to take advantage of Chelsea’s shiiiiitness.

We've steadily narrowed that gap. The second half was disappointing yesterday - I thought our players looked leggy. But in the first half I was encouraged by how we carved Everton open time and again.

Chelsea have taken 19 points from their last 16 games, steadily narrowing the gap really isn’t good enough.

Id say wolves are the most likely to get 4th.

they have a very nice run in and had their poor form at the start of the season.

posted on 2/3/20

They were in poor form prior to the last week. Had one win in seven in the premier league.

No really funny, Fred has recently just been given a chance, McT has grown into the role, Matic looks good again, we have forwards who can control the ball and play football now. Not really a surprise. Pogba had the likes of Lukaku, Lingard, Andreas around him.

Not sure what the Pogba agenda is.

The only agenda is he isnt good enough.

We are only 3 points behind them now. We could be 4th by the end of this weekend if results go our way.

He's a strange player Pogba, because when you watch him live, he doesn't look great, and hasn't since he re-joined us.

But Top Lad is right, last season he topped all the stats which matter for a player in his position, even if you take away his penalties, according to Opta he still had the most:

Assists, shots on target, take-ons, most chances created, most passes into the final 1/3, most duals won and most possession won, so he must be doing something right, even if it's not obvious when watching him.

We have 3 extremely hard games coming up league wise.

I think well get 4 points from them.

_______

It's annoying when he's clearly our most talented player but it's harsh to say he hasn't done anything of note for us. Maybe the standards of costing 90mil are higher, as they rightly should be. But to say he hasn't done anything is ridiculous.
