Cantona had genuine world class players around him but still stood out
Fernandes really stands out in a sea of mediocrity but it’s difficult to judge just how good he is/will be. Interesting that there wasn’t any of the big players in for him, wonder whether he would’ve stood out as much ?
Di Maria had a similar start at Man United

And?
I don't think Eric had world class players when he arrived. The class of 02 became world class soon after he arrived. He was a mentor for them.

Yes but they're different people. You could say the same for any player that arrives at a PL club and has a good start.
52, decent analogy, who knows how good he could turn out to be? But certainly the lift he's given and if/when other players of a certain standard arrive do come he will benefit from that as Eric did?
Looking forward to seeing his progression next season

You're not a United fan. Probably seen neit of them live. Watching highlights on TV isn't the same, so....

Interesting question: how many world class players did we have when Cantona joined? Giggs was a very exciting youngster. Ince, Hughes, Kanchelskis, Bruce, Pallister were very good players. Irwin was an excellent player. Keane was still at Forest. Cole was at Newcastle. The class of 92 were still biding their time. Schmeichel was world class.
We had a stronger side than this one, without significant weaknesses, but 'genuine world class players around him' is a bit of a stretch.
Definitely agree with that RR, especially the Irwin comment, one of my favourite all time players. Him and Ashley Cole were the two best fullbacks I've seen. It was a strong team and got stronger when Eric arrived and after.
The comparison isn't exact , but we do look better because of him.

I guess I mean as a catalyst for better things.
What influence because again no and ylu dont look like winning anything
Do you go on all the threads to nit Cindy.
And you do know if we will win things or not?
Also read the OP again, I never said they or the teams were the same.
Are you really RDD on a bad day.
Bruno will probably have a longer career with our club - providing we continually improve. Eric 'seemed to be here for 10 minutes' and then he was gone. I hope Bruno has a very long and happy career with us and has half of the influence eric had (which was massive). Too early to compare but I get it - and I'm a believer in this player!
They eat a lot of sardines in Portugal and their will be seagulls so the comparison is uncanny
Cantona’s influence at United is incomparable, so I wouldn’t even bother bringing his name into the conversation.
But if he can bring some leadership, responsibility and confidence to make his teammates play better I think we’ll all be satisfied with that.

Dunno, Eric has a very special, larger than life charisma. Fernandes has given the players and fans a new lease of life bur that only lasts if his goals continue.
