Open play chances created in the PL since the start of 2020:
11 - Aaron Wan-Bissaka
10 - Trent Alexander-Arnold
TAA isn’t hard to get past, he just isn’t much of an actual defender and we’ll all see that when he plays for England. It’s been said before, Klopps system disguises the limitations of a lot of his players.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Isn't that Klopp's job? If you've got a player who is really good going forward, and weaker at defending (I think some people are underestimating his defensive work, for what it's worth), then surely playing to his strengths is the right thing to do.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Absolutely, which is why I rate Klopp.
Fergie did the same thing when working with the likes of Cleverly and Anderson. There's no shame in having limited players in a championship winning team.
The ego of some Liverpool fans gets hurt if these limitations are pointed out though.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Right, so TAA is a limited player? Please tell me that's what you're saying.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Limited in his defensive ability, yes.

I was being ludicrous because that's what perceive United fans comparing AWB to Trent as.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
They are compared defensively, an area in which AWB is clearly better at. I think everybody is able to admit that TAA is far better going forward.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
No they weren't. The whole premise of this debate is somebody stating AWB is the best right back in the league. Nobody compared them based on one area.

TAA

Baldock
AWB
Fourth best English right back for me, although Walker hasn't had a great season. AWB also has potential to be better than Baldock, so you could loosely give him third.

Don’t rate walker but I’d have Reece James over bissaka and that’s with minimal game time. Awb has not impressed me at all this year

It's not his positioning, he just makes tackles in situations most defenders would choose to run side by side with a defender, waiting for a better moment for a tackle.
Why? Because he can.

Can't say I have been impressed with Reece James. Looked pretty poor against us tbh and he got torn a new one by Gnabry

Because I don't believe people have watched him enough and as a career I don't think it's enough to make such polarised statements as are being made on here especially when we've never seen him in world football elite club competition.

I was being ludicrous because that's what perceive United fans comparing AWB to Trent as.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
They are compared defensively, an area in which AWB is clearly better at. I think everybody is able to admit that TAA is far better going forward.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I don't agree, the amount of tackles AWB makes is massively concerning, why is his positioning so suspect he needs to dive in so often?
TAA is a much more refined all round player, AWB is little more than the raw building blocks at the moment.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It's not his positioning, he just makes tackles in situations most defenders would choose to run side by side with a defender, waiting for a better moment for a tackle.
Why? Because he can.

Wan-Bissaka would be lucky to make the top 5 English RBs for goodness sake.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Who would be ahead of him then?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
TAA
Walker
Baldock
AWB
Fourth best English right back for me, although Walker hasn't had a great season. AWB also has potential to be better than Baldock, so you could loosely give him third.

Against Utd he wasn’t great I must admit. And Bayern is Bayern, I doubt Ashley Cole would have done well in our line up that night. Every other game he’s played near enough he’s been top class. Watch him a bit more. He has everything
