Terrible news, one of our stand out performers this season.

3 players also have symptoms of corona virus. Surely our game on Saturday will be postponed?

That is an absolute killer. At least we have Justin to come in but our best player with an injury that can end careers is devastating news.

It may mean a summer transfer is less likely though now.

When did it happen - training?

3 players self isolating and tested. If positive I think the game will be called off. Results tomorrow.

Apparently he picked up the injury during the game on Monday.

Multiple bad news in one post

It would appear reading between the lines that as a country we are about to enter lock down for 2/4 weeks.

Ricardo - disaster, so sad for an absolutely superb player
Covid-19 - if it happens it happens. Some of our players testing positive would certainly stop Saturday's game, which might pre-empt a government ban on large gatherings that seems almost inevitable anyway (this being probably sooner rather than later).

dublin - The government are more planning for a slow-motion lockdown lasting 2-4 months.
The idea is consistent with the idea of a lot of (healthy) people contracting it bit by bit over a long period of time, to keep deaths to a minimum and build up herd immunity.

I can't help but believe that the so-called good news of fewer cases coming out of China is just the end of the first wave.

Sorry for Ricardo not for us Puels man was going to leave this summer sights set on Barcelona, now that might mean he signs a contract extension.
Three self isolating out of a squad of 25 have Chillwell and Madders been snogging again

Nev - Yes. But apparently it's not them. They've been seen out together.

Apparently not Vardy or Schmeichel either. As one cheeky mite suggested earlier, of course Kasper doesn't have it. He never catches anything.

So how does that work??
Let an area get infected west side of a city
Whilst the east is in lock down?
Or just area by area as numbers go up
Hit 3000 minimum movement
Hit 10000 lick down

That's up to 12 weeks in isolation for me
That's hard, without factoring in things like
Hoovering house to help my breathing
Medical care at gp or district nurse calling,

Sounds like the governments dream
Clear out the old and sick hopefully some of the drift wood will go as well
So much better than government policy let natural selection do it for them,

The good thing about travelling a lot in my younger years
All 4 children have access to foreign passports so can get out the country if needed,
It's feeling like a bad dream somewhere between
George Orwell animal farm, 1984,pre ww2 Germany

Jesus what a mess

Bascially the theory is that it's going to spread everywhere and there's nothing anyone can do about it, except for controlling spikes and potentially delaying so there's better treatment available off the back of research. Then, if we can keep people who are older/vulnerable/susceptible away from it for long enough then we end up with better treatment options for them. But in the meantime, if more people are better equipped to fight it, less infectious or, even better immune, then those people have more freedom to get around and see others.

It's the kind of plan that may end up being the best of a bunch of bad options. And in the meantime they're trying to keep the country going enough so that people are willing to maintain social order in the months to come.

Put it this way: Imagine the government introduced a 4-week lockdown. Cases would reduce after the first week or two. But then eventually the borders get opened again, or people start moving around again, and the virus just comes back in again. So then there's another lockdown, and so on. Just as many people get it, just as many people die (vaccine in 15 months at the earliest) and their livelihoods are destroyed as well.
Far from being behind in their thinking, the plans I'm hearing from the government suggest their thinking is based on the future. And those plans suggest that it's going to get worse before it gets even worse.

But on the bright side, Ricardo may be back by then.

Dung and Dub delying tactics no lock down for another two weeks then its easter holiday and we are past the worse. I have to admit Kasper did catch one high ball i came round about ten minutes later being given the kiss of life by three LCFC first team squad members! Well thats what they told me

Just listened to the GOVERNMENT and NHS broadcast

Basically what you've explained
However I'm going into 90% lock down

Living in isolation there's not much difference anyway
Less contacts less chance of me getting it,
I'll not go to the 2 morning clubs
And no shopping

Nev is this from a good source 😳😳
Not much else I can do,

Only my opinion so basically no but it makes sence they are telling anyone now with flu symtoms to self isolate for seven days when after that they should not be infectious. You hunker down if im in the country and you need a red cross parcel at your door i will do it as i am sure others on here will.
Dubs you are one of our own we don't want to lose you.

Hugs Nev

"Some people believe football is a matter of life and death. I am very disappointed with that attitude. I can assure you it is much, much more important than that."

Turns out Shanks may have been wrong about that.

Anyway, no more games now until April 3rd.

Personally I'd be surprised if there are any more domestic fixtures played before June. And I'm saying that optimistically.

What I think might be worth more consideration is extending the season to the end of the calendar year and making some serious adjustments for a while - such as making both this and next season 18 months long. Perhaps a one-off competition could be invented to fill the gaps.

I think you could well be right about June, given that they are now talking about a peak in 10-14 weeks time.

It seems that Government (and governing bodies) have one eye on the till and the other on trying to stop panic. Result is half measures.
