Squads won’t be completely different in the summer because there won’t be a transfer window and players out of contract will need to sign a short term extension
----------------------------------------------------------------------

There is a little thing called human rights, you can’t forcibly make a player extend a contract. Sure you could say they can’t play for another side until the extended season is finished - but they could still refuse to play.

It will be tainted whatever they do
----------------------------------------------------------------------
If players contracts run to the end of the season then what human rights have they got if the season restarts over the summer

Assume you mean the league win is tainted ? Not sure there is anyone on this planet that doesn’t recognize Liverpool will win the league
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Forget Liverpool, this affects all the clubs. Spurs finishing 12th or 5th would be tainted. You could argue it already is, Spurs are now likely to get Kane and Son back fit, so if the season starts up again in the summer and Spurs put a run together and finish 5th that is tainted.

Likewise, Bournemouth may now have to play us with Kane and Son fit - we could beat them and relagate them, whereas playing us at the moment is a nailed on 3 points.

The season is done and there is no fair way to conclude it. Everyone knows Liverpool would have been champions and have been the best team by a mile - so just acknowledge that and start again next season.

This seasons games will be completed , there are 5 months to do it allowing for the next season to start in September.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

I very much doubt any football will be played anytime soon. This thing is only going to get worse for a while

By April when this break is supposed to be over we’re probably gonna be like Italy
----------------------------------------------------------------------
That’s why the euros are cancelled to allow time to finish the domestic leagues
----------------------------------------------------------------------

----------------------------------------------------------------------
It might not be the reason why it's cancelled, but it certainly gives the domestic leagues more time to finish.

Contracts run until a certain date - virtually all are June 1st. Contracts don’t state “until the end of the season”. If you are a player desperate to leave your club then you are unlikely to want to extend things.

It’s a legal minefield and these simplistic solutions do not work out in reality.

The players can leave then. Unless they agree to stay until the end of the season. It's likely that other leagues would be doing the same so it's not as if they would be missing out on playing for their new club in a new season. UEFA are holding a meeting on Tuesday with all member nations so they will work together on a solution.

Of course it will finish. This will peak and fall almost instantaneously in a few weeks. Keep scaremongering though, your motives are thinly veiled behind your ‘considerate’ comments

the latest plan mooted by the telegraph is interesting

end the season

make Liverpool champions

promote Leeds and west from and have a 22 team league

scrap the EFL cup to accommodate it and have 5 teams get relegated at the end of next season
----------------------------------------------------------------------

How can Liverpool be champions, and WBA and Leeds be promoted, none have won it. Completely nonsensical and selfish idea.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Well it sounds like it might happen.

Interesting looks like if they can’t finish the league and that is clear preference then they will promote Leeds and wba and extend the league to 22 , oh and by the way will crown us as champs!

the head of the FA tells premier league chiefs he can't see it being completed.

that's as good as you're gonna get for it not completing till there's an official announcement
----------------------------------------------------------------------
You'd have hoped the FA chief might be a bit more optimistic though...aren't these types of people supposed to to be 'can do' instead of "i can't see past a few weeks away"

We'd be better off binning the Euro's until next year, & using the time to finish domestic leagues if we can

It seems this whole situation seems to be concerning the Spurs fans more than the fans it’s going affect!

Not true at all. This going nowhere for months. My wife is in management in the NHS and I guarantee that the next few months will be horrific.

It’s scary people think this is a mild thing

They’ll just have to have some kind of super play off matches or something to get it done with if it comes down to it. Liverpool vs City (since they’re the only team that can catch them) but with Liverpool starting 4-0 up. They get paid the big money, time for them to start earning it and come up with a creative way to sort it out.

But anyway, in the grand scheme of things this is a small worry right now. Give the trophy to Liverpool now so it’s done with and all the others can GTF. Anyone trying to sue out of all of this should be shamed out of business. We’re living in interesting times.

Yeah gladly see Liverpool crowned champions, they throughly deserve it.

As for everything else relegation, promotion, champions league spots, where do they start

Still won’t happen. This thing will peak in June - by that point it will take a while to get back to normal. August/September at the earliest and even then the players will have to have a pre season.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Might as well just start the next season.

Apparently Blackpool were many points clear at top of division one when the league was cancelled for the second world war. We should play out the end of that season first.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
They couldn't have been that far ahead. I heard the season was three games old at that stage!

Liverpool ‘should’ be awarded the title but it will open a massive can of worms so it probably won’t happen. The season will be voided and restarted most likely. To keep in line with the rest of Europe, every tournament will have to be restarted and the Euros at best will be played in 2021
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Exactly, cannot give one team a result, but not the others.

You cant have one without the others. So if they cannot figure out what to do with the CL/EL/Relegation spots, than no title to Liverpool either.

posted on 14/3/20

We f they void the season then that guarantees United another season outside the CL, which has huge financial implications for the Adidas deal. Going to be a lot of interested business conversations when the dust settles on all this.
