Something has to be going on behind the scenes. Not sure if it his attitude or he just isn't impressing in training etc but it is strange Gomes isn't been given a chance ahead of the likes of Lingard or Perreira. I can see him leaving, not sure he will go to Chelsea mind. Don't think that would be a good move for him

Frank has kind of made it his thing to push the youth so I think it would be an easy sell to Gomes that he would get chances at Chelsea.

Ole has done more or less the same and Gomes will have as much competition there as he has here.

He’s still so raw when you watch him. Hopefully makes that step up over the next couple of years.

Sign him up and send both him and Chong out on 2 yr loan deals

And yet he isn’t getting game time. All Frank would have to do is ensure him he’ll be involved with the first team and be part of most match day squads and that’ll put him ahead of where he is for United.

Unless Frank can give him more first team football, he'll be in the same place as he is at United.

from reports it sounds like it's more money than game time. United want to use Greenwood as the cap on youth contracts, but Gomes team are pushing for higher salary. Which makes sense a little if he is in high demand, but it's understandable that United don't want to break the pay structure/benchmark. Specially when Greenwood has firmly broken through to the first team and Gomes hasn't.

Could be the case. If it is about opportunity, the clubs he's been linked to offer that same in terms of first team opportunities.

Would be a bad career move. Once Chelsea sack Lampard and return to their successful model of ignoring the academy, and youngsters, he’ll be farmed out on loan.

That ain't gonna happen Mason .

Obviously none of us know what the sticking points are in the contract discussions but ideally we'd be signing him up to a long term deal and getting him out on loan for a season or two. He needs to play regular football now against men at a good standard. There's no doubt at all he has the technical ability and intelligence to compete at the elite level. The big question is whether his size and physicality will be an issue at the sharp end of the game.

I think we’ll see him move overseas this summer.

It’d be a great shame to lose him, but at this stage, of the Academy graduates/players, I’d be more concerned about any of Greenwood, Brandon, Garner or McT leaving.

Other than Lingard, I agree. I love watching Gomes play but I just think his size will always hold him back making it as a top player in the prem. And with Bruno, and Grealish coming in, he won’t see any game time anyway.

I’ve not seen child negligence like it since Home Alone 2.
