I know the hysteria is all a bit overblown, but it doesn't say anything good about your character that you think it's funny to come on a forum to post idiotic WUMs when there are people in this thread who have said they're worried about family members.

Get a grip snowflake

Another delightful individual.

You know not everyone who has empathy with other people is a snowflake.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Hopefully most people in the UK will do their best to help vulnerable people while people like this can run around shouting snowflake. Unfortunately I imagine these same people need to be told how to wash their hands properly.

SARS, Ebola etc , were all still terrible diseases which killed a lot of people world wide. Flu kills people world wide every year. Ebola was awful in Africa. I think
We really need to get a bloody grip here, follow the guidelines and this will be tackled very soon.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

SARS killed fewer than 800 people. In Italy alone, well over 1,000 have died from COVID-19. Yes, "only" 21 have died in the UK at present. But the day before it was 10. If it's 40 today, what's the prediction for tomorrow?

Ffs get a grip sandy

They said the same about sars. The only difference is back then you got up, watched the news, then went about your day.

Now you get up watch the news and your phone/tablet/watch goes off every other minute with another update causing mass hysteria.

Yes there will be disruption, but to say the world will stop for two years and take even longer to get back to normal is utter nonesense for which you have no way of backing up. It’s talk like that which is causing people with genuine need to not be able to get the supplies they are desperate for.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Completely agree. People are turning into raving lunatics over this thing. Like I said above, with the right measures in place, this will be eradicated quickly. The summer heat will kill off this virus to. It can’t live in a certain temperature. People are going way OTT, the world is not ending. It’s a big problem, but it will get sorted out. People need to get a bloody grip. Them and the media are making this a lot worse than what it actually is.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

They dont know that summer heat will kill it off. That is pure conjecture at the moment.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Summer heat kills off any virus mate, it’s a fact. What’s so special about coronavirus that it won’t be killed off ?

Right?

Why would I be joking you f*** buffoonit’s a well
Known fact that viruses thrive in cold weather, this is a fact. When the temperature heats up, the virus is nowhere near as severe and the cases will start to drop.

Every single additional death in the UK has been either been due to age and/or underlying health issues

The numbers coming out of Italy are a bit of an anomaly at 6.8% mortality
No other country, with the possible exception of Iraq & Iran are showing a rate higher than 4%

But if so many are catching it, which they are, and about 15 per cent need hospital treatment and even intensive care, it presents an enormous challenge to the healthcare system. This might be why Italy’s mortality rate is higher - they’re struggling to cope.

If it were only as contagious as SARS, it would have been contained by now. But it seems to spread far more easily, meaning a lower mortality rate doesn’t offer much solace.

I think a little bit OTT Sandy mate. The world will not be shutting down for a couple of years and we are not in Armageddon mate. The media are fuelling this mass hysteria, which in turn is making people act like lunatics with their selfish acts in terms of ransacking the supermarkets. China, who were a severe case, miles worse than any country in Europe have curbed it and now are at single figures daily in regards to new cases. If we follow the guidelines and the countries do their part over the next month, this will tackle it and the hot weather incoming will also kill the virus. No need for this mass hysteria mate, it’s getting ridiculous.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Still lots of incorrect information being thrown around. Warm weather will NOT kill the virus, it MIGHT slow it down, based on the behaviour of other Corona viruses. As this new Corona virus still has to experience warmer, weather no one can tell with certainty what the effect on the virus will be. So lets all stop saying that warm weather will kill the virus.

Many European countries are down in the 0.2-0.5% mark.

Starting to think they need to either go to one extreme or the other, ignore and go on as normal given they think 40-70% are catching this anyway, so current restrictions are going to make little difference, OR total lockdown for a month so the virus cannot spread any further.

The current plan means this is going on for the rest of the year and then likely through next winter which would result in the economy being completely and utterly destroyed for decades.

Just tried to do a Sainsbury`s home delivery as a practice run, and there was a three week slot for delivery, and not one slot available. So it has not really even started yet and I couldn`t get a delivery even if I wanted to. So if the over 70s are not allowed out, and they cannot get food delivered. What are they actually supposed to do?
