Completely agree.

Also queues here at chemists are mental. Only 3 folk allowed in at any 1 time.
Pubs closed, restaurants soon to follow, mental times.

And yet there are still cants complaining because the sport has been halted.

I went to Tesco yesterday morning, just to pick up some fruit and lunch stuff for work this week; as I do every Sunday morning. I have never seen the place so busy.

No toilet roll, the aisle for tinned food was so crowded you could barely walk down it. No pasta (love having pasta for lunch ).

People need to sort themselves out.

It’s shocking - and the irony is, the poor and vulnerable are the ones that will be most affected by hordes of waaaankers loading their trolleys with meat, pasta and handgel

Panic buying isn't a crime in itself but bulk buying to sell on at hugely inflated prices should be

Well said mate, we need people to calm down but I understand the reason for panic, but it's certainly not the time that's for sure. I echo the sentiments in the OP and hope people look after those who are dearest. Keep safe folks.

I’m about to go food shopping. Just made my normal list, interesting to see how much I’ll be able to get.

This just highlights just how easy it is to bring out the worst in people. The most any one individual should be isolated is around two weeks, yet people are buying months worth of supplies. Stupidity and selfishness at its greatest.

went this morning at 7am to avoid the crowds as I normally do when I do my weekly shop.

This morning was to crab some fruit, orange juice, $puds, and a 4 pack of soap.

By the time I walked out at 7.10am the car park was full and the place was getting busy

Should be injected with the virus. Then they can use what they’ve bought. Idiots.

How do you separate a ‘panic buyer’ from someone who is buying for other people ? I read a news story about a Glasgow couple who spent £2000 on hand sanitiser - but they gave it out for free to the elderly in their local area.

The amount of panic buyers is quite simply disgraceful. A panic buyer is basically saying if there were a crisis where food became limited I want to make sure I have plenty and couldn't give a fack about my neighbour starving to death.

It's also completely irrational because even in lockdown you are able to get groceries.

Really does make me angry seeing these caaaants.

While that’s a great gesture, it’s not really up to individuals to do that. Buying up all the handgel to give to the elderly for free could mean people who aren’t elderly and have underlying health conditions miss out, same with pregnant women, mums with young kids etc

We will end up with national rationing back at this rate

That's a disgrace, surely they should have something in place for people who cannot get out?

Everyone needs to do research on what they need to equip themselves with.

I suggest watching Mad Max. 😉

Does that mean you're first into the Thunderdome? Two men enter, one man leave!

Where are you based Dublin? If I could arrange a time slot I could possibly go get you some essentials and bring them to you?

I think what we are all experiencing is something we could only read about from before our time.....
NOBODY actually knows the best way to tackle this pandemic and while it’s easy to criticise governments, scientific experts etc they are pishing in the wind trying to get ahead of the game right now.
While I understand the ‘panic buying’ I don’t believe it’s right, there will be some shortages over the coming weeks the supply of goods won’t cease completely.
Being sensible is the way forward.
Speaking personally I work for a charity that part of what we do is feed those who are homeless, mental health issues, addiction issues etc and we feed our clients 7 days a week at different locations in my community. What we are finding is that we are struggling to purchase the basics for the meals due to the panic buying. The people filling trolleys and boxes aren’t doing anything wrong but hey just think of those less fortunate who need help and food over the coming time.

Stay safe all, and keep an eye on our neighbours, friends and family.
