Well à lot of people respect the Guardian. It reports the facts and gives opinion separately. Far from being a rag it's one of the world's great newspaper. Disagreeing with them doesn't make them a rag.
Tbf to Boris he is following the experts advice..
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Exactly, but even doing that, for some reason, isn’t good enough for some - not sure what else he’s expected to do....if he just did what he wanted to do, he’d be slated...he’s damned if he does, damned if he doesn’t
A weird set of expectations by some people

Just been speaking to my mum, she works as a hospital back in England. Apparently they usually get around 1000 deaths a year and they're expecting around 900 deaths a week.
Apparently they're expecting it to be worse than Italy because of slow response and people not taking advise. Surely some responsibility has to fall on Boris for that? When you have the benefit of seeing how things have already unfolded for someone else, but still somehow managing it worse is just incompetence surely?
Regardless of what u think of Boris, whether you're labour, cons, green or any other party hes doing his best...
He truly looks knackered.
He also has a pregnant girlfriend and is probably worried about his unborn babies life too.
So whilst you're all out panic buying, spending every minute with our kids (even though most people moan about that!) And in general whinging about what he hasn't done, this guy can't do that and is attending meetings continuously, has probably had no time for his family , and i wouldn't be surprised if he's isolating himself from his partner.
The guy is trying so hard
For EVERYONE
Tbh seems no one as ever dealt with this situation before I think hes doin a pretty damn good job!
Most of you all are struggling to get your households in order with 3 - 5 people who live there because of panic and other things!
--------------------
This is spot on tbh
I think the advice is correct, he could have done things sooner, he had the example of Italy.
But overall not too bad.
Other things though including Brexit not so good.
He also has a pregnant girlfriend and is probably worried about his unborn babies life too.

Wow. Classy...
if we predict similar numbers / virus frames for worst case scenario
spain - 6 days behind italy
germany - 7 days behind italy
france - 10 days behind italy
UK - 14 days behind
I guess the one small beacon of hope is Italy are in the rough of it and will be for another week/two, and there cases will likely end up around 100,000-120,000
And in the grand scheme things 120,000 out of 60,000,000 (0.5%) isn't that high a number of the population and will be similar across the board, probably 2-3% with unofficial cases.
So you only have a 2%-3% chance of catching it but someones gotta catch it, so yeh it's just going to be a lucky dip unfortunately, just gunna have to hope for the best
The Quarantines/Lockdowns seem to take 26 days to work effectively and see reductions

No one hospital will have 900 deaths in one week.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Apparently that's what they've been told to expect. They're going to be a regional centre for Covid apparently, so every bed they have (which is only around 700) will be for Covid. Seems like mad numbers to me but I don't know much about it.
Apparently consultants already being briefed on the fact that they're going to have to decide to just let some people die as well. Horrible thing to have to live with.
Death-wise we'll likely end up with around 4,000-5,000 over the next 4 weeks

Dear God, why don’t we just throw him to the wolves right now, because someone somewhere suspects???
Are you lot fackin’ real
It’s the doom merchant that are totally hysterically whipping up a frenzy on no FACTS but because you ‘suspect’ something ‘might’ happen - yeah let’s skate and destroy Boris right now
