One flu over the keepers net

So the first half of next season becomes the second half of this season a break and then on to the first half of next season and so on.
That works I get the feeling it would make ups and downs more interesting and a true test of consistency it'd be a lot easier to move around for Euro's and World Cups as well.
I'm in where do I out my mark

The points per game system they are thinking about bringing in to finish the season has us finishing 2nd bottom.

So every cloud and all that.

Wanderers are putting on the 2-1 victory at Old Trafford from 2001 on Saturday at 3pm.

Got a free pint out of that result from the lanlord of a pub I was in.

Benny, you are right, it's all about the money. I see that the trust are asking the question if season ticket holders would be willing to donate the money for the remaining games to the club.

Ghost, If they keep the relegation laws as they are now. we would still go down. There was a suggestion that only one team would be relegated but I'm not sure if that would happen.

I do think that if it did happen, and we were saved, there would be one hell of a row from the team that gets relegated.

I'd been preparing for being relegated for ages.

Just not finishing bottom, (whether its finished off or not), is the main goal personally.

Just seen my first live match in ages - a South Korean league game - with a VAR non penalty, a sending off and a late set piece goal. And the crowd noise being pumped in via the tannoy in a Man City stylee.

I think all of us had accepted that relegation was unavoidable. The fact that none of us knows whether the season will be ended or not is giving us the slightest glimmer of hope that we will retain our place in the first division.

I don't think that can be decided until the government gives its verdict on whether or not football can proceed before its too late to finish this season's fixtures.

Looks like the premier league will be finished using neutral grounds and the fa cup and champions league in August. League one and two expected to be called a day this week. The championship probably will be completed but how they will do it is anyone's guess.

Benny, we are heading towards the middle of May and matters really do need addressing now. By the time football is given the green light to resume it will not be possible to complete the season.

Clubs need to know what is happening so that they can plan for the forthcoming season. As for the Premiership being completed, I honestly think that it will depend on government advice. Personally, if they allow it to continue, I think it will be a mistake and give the wrong message to the public as a whole. It would signal that its fine to stop social distancing and I doubt that would be what the government would want to happen.

Another 700 + deaths yesterday means that we are not ready as a nation to totally relax the lockdown. It has been muted that there might be some small tweaks to the lockdown to be announced on Sunday but I don't see anything major to relax the rules being announced.

EFL may wait until after the play offs before saying anything they do like to take their time and consider all options before choosing something illogical.

I think stalling for time and watching how the German restart goes seems to be the thing the Premier League is doing.

Certainly there's a few legues following their restart slowly.

That's the Bolton v man utd match. Worth a watch but it's only highlights, poorly edited together and low picture resolution. Early days in our premier league adventure and no superstars as yet. Still mainly a championship side.

I did notice the poor quality and only put up with it until the second goal went in, (essentailly seeing the good bits), then turned it off.

It was like it was filmed by a potato, though I suspect a potato would have a better quality to it.

When Boris has come down the mountain do you think he'll announce the pecking order for sport returning I've been trying to work it out but really struggling no matter what I think will be first there's always something to force a rethink.
I've measured and tested a Air Hockey table and that doesn't work so cross that off for starters.

1st July would be the first date that sports stadiums could re-open. The caveat to that happening is that the rate of infection continues to go down.

I know the government has had a very hard task to deal with but the mistakes that have been made are ridiculous both in numbers and consequences. I won't list them as it would be pointless. However, they do need to start getting things right and I hope that they don't make the mistake of unlocking the lockdown too early. It would be a complete waste of the sacrifices that the country has made to date.

I'm still banking on Father Christmas delivering the match ball for the first game of the 2020/21 season if he fails to show up with it the fall back position will be the Easter Bunny.

Expect another spike in around 2 weeks less probably. Bank holiday Friday was totally ridiculous. Street parties, gatherings in gardens. Some sort of karaoke was going on a few streets down. Noobheads.

Benny,As predicted Armageddon is now ready for its second spike.

Golden, I could list all the mistakes that the government have made but it would be pointless. I'm not anti the government but when this is all over we need to review what so-called scientific advice that we take and from whom.

So, today or tomorrow maybe the day what the EFL have decided to enlighten us as to what is going to happen regarding promotions, and more importantly for us, what has been decided about relegation.

I suspect that FV will accept our fate but I fully expect court cases from other clubs,

Do you think that our club should consider taking legal action? We are after all, mathematically able to avoid relegation, even if it isn't realistic.

posted on 13/5/20

By the time all the legal and health and safety issues are resolved for a safe return to work for players we may find a few more clubs beyond the point of no return how many clubs will go to the wall will probably depend on how many have benefactors with deep pockets.
We'll be well past that time before fans are let into stadiums to watch a live game.

posted on 14/5/20

Pasty, I fear that you might be right. Our owners are business people who may have good businesses but I doubt that they could afford to sink the amount of money into the club that might be needed.

In June we have a lot of players who's contracts end. It will probably mean that all those players will be allowed to leave the club. Management including some of those in charge of the youth set up may also go. It will give FV the opportunity to bring in players or more probable use youth players to reduce the wages bill.

If I was in charge, I would be in constant dialogue with Bolton Council to see if the rates bill could be reduced significantly and also postponed for a twelve-month period. I would hope that the council would be willing to accommodate the club in view of the present situation and what the club means to the town.

There must be other ways of reducing costs. But the club should also be proactive in raising funds. Many years ago when the club was in a dire state, I was out knocking on doors signing people up to a scheme to raise money for the club.

In times of strife, you have to think outside the box and make things happen. Social media is with us today and a lot of people can be reached much easier than knocking on doors with little or no costs. I know the trust is proactive, perhaps its financial guys could come up with a plan.

posted on 14/5/20

Can I rehash my thinking outside the Bok plan then ?
Move to a new location and a smaller modular ground should we reach higher leagues have the financial means and fan base to support building additional tiers we could add them as required. This would release the land at BL6 allowing the out of town shopping area to expand as it wants. Now would be a good time before the out of town shopping market slumps and becomes wastelands.
The ST appear to have lost all those high net worth investors they had in their pockets I'm sure FV can rustle up a few of their own to make something happen so they can move towards their exit strategy.

Saying that it depends on what happens to football and the long term impact there's always the run it down flog the assets take the money and walk option. That way the trust might be able to afford the club name and find a little non league pitch somewhere.

What about the sugar daddy route ? Who's got the number for that Texan oil tycoon he'd be an ideal candidate to throw a few hundred million at us as his play thing.

Don't expect an announcement any time soon.
After cramming in 3 meetings on Wednesday the EFL have managed to pop in another meeting today before they finish early for the weekend.
Now that beauty spots are open perhaps the EFL have plans to spend the weekend at Camp David.

Alexander, senior, Graham and king-harmes sign 1 year pro deals https://www.bwfc.co.uk/news/2020/may/quartet-sign-first-professional-contract-with-wanderers/ Good news. Liked what I have seen of all 4 although a lot of work to do to get up to first team standard. Good to see faith in young players.

What do we do with Darcy perhaps inside knowledge says he's not good enough to justify breaking the bank to keep him or are we to take a punt and hope he doesn't get injured and cash in on him later perhaps he has he already sorted himself out and has a new club and waiting for a start date or the end of July when he gets his last pay cheque form us.

We should have a crop of spring onions ready for harvesting did you follow KH's guide or go with the instructions off the packet.
