Long story.

Was a Christmas work do one of my customers invited me out on. Proper East End London pub crawl and I only know the owner; none of the other cockneys.

Loads of banter and we get to 2nd pub. One of the boys are “right. The Hi Ho. I’ll go first”

We all wait outside while he gets down onto his knees and shuffles into the bar singing “Hi Ho, Hi Ho. It’s off to work we go” all the way up to the bar. Orders a pint and seven half pints which are poured out.

He reaches up, takes the pint and sings out “HI HO” then starts to sup. At that all the rest get down on their knees and in line head into the pub signing merrily away. We all sink the half pints and killing ourselves laughing. The locals are loving it and I’m thinking “what a great day this is going to be”

You get the drift. We take it in turns and about three or four more pubs in it’s my turn. I can’t wait.

In I go on my knees singing away. Let me tell you it’s some distance on your knees and you draw some not so nice unamused and menacing looks.

Get to the bar “Pint please and seven half pints” Barman “you taking the piiisss. I want the money up front”

“No worries” says I. Pay the man. Pick up pint and at my loudest give it “HI HO”.

Nothing.

All eyes on me. Look at the window and they’re all outside giving me the w@nka signs and gutting themselves. Barman leans over and says “You’ve been proper set up haven’t you boy?”

“Erm. Aye”

I thought it best to finish the pint and sing away on my way back out on my knees to mutterings from the locals of “silly cwnt” and “he’s a Jock ain’t he the tiit”

Got back out alive thankfully and they’re all still gutting themselves. I’m told I took it well especially giving it the song on the way out.

Massively embarrassing and a wee bit scary but I met some great new mates that day

And he laughs at my antics

It was a one off

We had a swally indoors last night,a litre of jd and a couple of columbian golds.

Felt like our last one for a while,cause Im no going to any shops anytime soon.

With nae football am losing it,don`t know what day it is,every news channel is just grim.

Thoughts on this tho,the motherinlaw (79) lives alone and only 2 minutes away,my wife visits her for 2-3 hours a day every day, Last night Boris was saying don`t visit your mothers,harsh but I can understand why.

Wife and her mother are fine health wise,motherinlaw has a few underlying problems that come with her age,wife has a face mask,should she visit today of all days just for an hour even?
