Stay safe, old man

distribution of food in a safe and orderly way will be key

the gov to ensure food production and supply continues

it's clear the supermarkets are going to be unable to cope with online home deliveries for a good while

provision must be made to make in-store shopping as safe as possible for customers and staff

posted on 21/3/20

A couple of days ago they said there were no plans to get the army involved in this way.

Boris always says lots of things, then a couple of days later has to change his mind on practically everything he first said. 100 per cent the army will be out in the next week or two, if only to help with moving supplies around the country.

Yup, I have tried online shopping, waste of time. They need to get more staff, and that could mean the army moving food around quicker.

Oh yeah I'm not saying that won't happen. I'm just not sure it will reach the stage where they are controlling the streets to stop people moving around unnecessarily.

Next will be the army on the streets, I suspect, to enforce the shut down-

Whilst this gives them a precedent to do it for other things, I think it’s worth doing to stop the fack wits out there, the thick morons who will fack it up for everyone else.

Although having said that, London could end up having stricter measures put in place than other cities I guess.

posted on 21/3/20

Yeah, its bad but I don't think the Army will become involved IMO.

We’ve heard that schools won’t be closed, mass gatherings won’t be banned, bars restaurants and cinemas wouldn’t close down and the latest one I’ve heard is that London won’t go into lockdown. They’ve gone back on everything they’ve said wouldn’t happen within days, London will most likely be in lockdown in the next week (if even that long) and then no doubt you will have the army on the streets

Actually you can go outside ... but not near other people. Its called "Social distancing".
Go hike up & down Parliament Hill.
See if you can do it from the ponds to the top and back down 5 times in a hour.
But don't go anywhere near a bus or the Tube.

should have shut down London too ages ago, people are streaming out to the coast and countryside spreading as they go,putting more strain on local nhs which is nowhere near as efficient as in London also people are leaving London to shop further afield returning with car loads of food. Lock down now

to those of us who have followed this virus outbreak since the new year what has happened was inevitable once the virus was carelessly allowed to escape east asia and into europe so easily

this shouldnt have happened , it was preventable

western governments have failed their people big time

Easy to say that in hindsight (although without hindsight the UK are still lagging terribly behind). Western Governments were hardly going to be prepared for yet another contagious Chinese disease finally making its way to Europe and beyond.

What we are about to witness is the collapse of industrial civilisation and the failure of the global monetary system. A monetary system that was guaranteed to fail eventually, as it depends on infinite growth in a world of finite resources.

Fuel shortages will be the next shoe to drop, as 90% of the worlds oil supply is uneconomical to produce at $25 a barrel.

We have raped the earth of it's valuable resources, in a never ending frenzy of greed and selfishness. Mother Nature bats last, and she's not happy with us. Not happy at all.

If its yet another Chinese disease, as you put it, then it shouldn't come as too much of a shock. Governments should have been more prepared for it because the precedent was there.

Also, is Mad Cow an English disease? Asking for a friend.

Me and my family are currently in self isolation because my son has some basic symptoms. I suspect he just has a slight cold but his school sent him home yesterday and his younger brother too. Meant me and the wife are working from home for the next 2 weeks which I wanted to avoid.

We can't get out to go shopping and online there are no slots whatsoever. I'm generally worried how we will eat for 2 weeks. We haven't bulk bought and therefore now in a situation where there is nothing left. They should look at those stuck indoors and help somehow.

Yet another Chinese disease but the first to come to the western world. The precedent should be on China to contain their stupid diseases, or better yet, stop causing them.

Just ask him. I don't even know you, and I would gladly volunteer to do your shopping.
