I know folk are criticising panic buyers at the moment and rightly so as there are no shortages yet but yet is the operative word.

In the UK we only produce just under 50% of the food our population require.

If food shortages do happen countries will quickly stop exporting. It is something to think about

It’s actually 60% but Macron will help us by closing the borders and denying us foodstuffs, medicines etc unless we do as we say

Don't think they are the first or last to do that tbh. Countries are all at different stages.

So far thankfully we seem to be at the point where cycling between partial lockdown measures will work for us. Hope it lasts

Agreed. I think we’re handling this very well. We can notch it up should we need to to things don’t improve but the essential message is to strictly follow the guidelines.

If every person simply isolated as best as they can; keep a strict cleanliness regime and completely self isolated as soon as any symptoms appeared we would be able to manage this without total lockdowns.

But man’s stupidity and warped sense of self and immortality will drive everyone down the same path eventually.

I think so too, government could have been a bit clearer on occasion and maybe a day or two late with some measures but on the whole i think we are doing the right things.

Good to see all the parties and groups that are traditionally adversarial like TUC and CBI working hand in hand

We produce over 60% and that includes supplying restaurants and cafes etc. The amount of waste is also a huge factor. We might not like the lack of choice but we won’t run out of food.

I’m not sure this is still the case. People are able to go outdoors and for their own health and sanity need to.

Maybe too many went to the same place today? There’ll always be fwckwits but I believe apart from people who will never be told what to do; the population is heeding the advice.

Rather than the pub or clubs rather than in shops or restaurants they are taking to parks and walks

Far more foot fall around here than a normal Sunday

then these people will hold things back ginger, for the rest of us, for businesses and they will accelerate numbers heading to hospital.

Set about a garden project and an hour later his mate appears to play basketball. Thought he’d got it. Another go tonight. He’s planning golf tomorrow. I’m a bit easier about that but still. Think it’s only time until we need a permit to go out and then only critical. Will be well pashed off of it facks my walks in the hills.

We went out for a decent walk today. People out and about but respectfully at a small distance. Stopped and had a coffee outside Costa and chatted to others. All very civilised. It all seemed rather civil and decent. I think more people said a hello by far more than on any other given day I’ve been here in nearly 11 years.

Then just ask for a black coffee instead of being all poncy with your "americano" and there'll be no doubting what you want! It will be made the same way.
