Bumbling Boris

Experts provide advice, politicians decide if and when to take it if it suits them. They have been known to tell porkies, especially the serial liar, Boris.

Spain cannot be compared as the circumstances and demographics are very different. As the Italians have said for a few weeks ‘Don’t make the same mistakes as us’ I.e. delaying lockdown. You have your opinion, I have mine.

So its the experts who dictate the policy
Boris and Nicola just follow it.
========================

Not really. They are given the facts and they decide the best course. It’s about being decisive.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
the facts are quite straight forward.
Minimise cases and deaths.
The experts will advise what needs to be done.

Clearly YES the Government can ignore this.

But does anyone of sound mind think this is what happened?

Folk ur mental

The facts presented by all experts show that preventing social contact reduces the spread of the virus. It is very simple to understand. Boris didn’t call for a lockdown and it has resulted in a greater spread and risk. Argue against that if you will.

The experts stood right next to him when he advised against lock down or rather the experts did.

So its the experts who dictate the policy
Boris and Nicola just follow it.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
And do you think that politicians don’t have a say in the timing? He mucked it up through choice. He decided when he would call a lockdown and it has backfired.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
The issue we're facing is being exacerbated by the public, the very stupid self interested elements of the public.

People in this country simply know better and have been taught not to listen to authority over multiple decades and varying political parties. It's in our make up to ask people to do things; would you please do something, would you mind not being offended if I ask you to do whatever, I really don't want to cause you any mental anguish, but would you mind doing ...……..

Not those desperately going out to work, or trying to save businesses - I understand to an extent there motive. It's the turds who'd ignore whatever government, whatever the threat.

This pandemic is being made worse by members of the public. Too easy to always blame government, teachers, police or anyone but ourselves. People need to take ownership and responsibility - i.e. grow the f*ck up and stay in unless absolutely necessary.

Think in this crisis that is a little too simplistic...the experts are changing their minds as the outbreak develops too

If the current measures are what the experts advised, then yes they should have ignored them and introduced tighter measures sooner.

Boris's government has taken some 'interesting' decision that in retrospect - even at this very early stage - look remarkably suspect. Thesr include, 'herd immunity that would have seen hundred of thousands dead, Cheltnam, Allowing Atheltico fans to travel from Madrid to Liverpool despite Madrid being a 'hotspot' and scientists warning against it , shaking hands in hospital FFS, not closing schools or banning large event early enough, FFS even the SFA saw that coming.
I think some of these decisions were completely irresponsible and in retrospect will be judged as incompetent.

Get what your saying guys, but they only had to look to Italy. It was happening in front of their eyes.

Agreed. Still is and Boris is still telling us how far behind Italy we are. The austerity years that have seen the NHS run down by these people has left it woefully ill-prepared to deal with this pandemic. FFS we are unable, even at this stage, to test all the NHS staff that need tested. We have absolutely no idea how many people are actually infected in the UK because of decisions taken by the UK government and against the advise of the WHO.

Maybe they do Duke, there were and are plenty of others warning about the lack of science, the inability of the Govt to produce the figures to justify their 'science' - but the Govt decide to go this way and in doing so have backed their experts' judgement. But it is a decision made by polticians.
Duke do you think it was wise to allow the Cheltenham Festival to go ahead? To allow Madrid fans to travel?

Why is the UK's death rate way above Germany's?? I would feel much more confident if Boris said 'we are two weeks behind Germany' rather than Italy.

Duke Something definitely isn't quite right. Even the mad rush for ventilators, 27 Feb we could have been reaching out. Instead of 5 days ago. It wasn't like Italy and the WHO weren't shouting from the rooftops for us to give ourselves a shake.

The only thing I can think is that there is a benefit to having a seed infection level pre lockdown. If you lockdown with 10 folk infected, it just pauses everything. So unless you have a vaccine it just prolongs shutdowns, but many countries did it. That said it buys time to formulate a strategy, or increase capacity in health system.

They are testing almost anyone who requests. UK it is only on hospital admissions
