Because its comparable in any way to the hundreds of millions of pounds at stake across the 4 professional leagues? I know you've been banging this drum for ages sandy, but we were going to on rations at some point this week according to you too. The prem will be finished. I guarantee it.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It is very comparable, they all play football and they all play in leagues. Has to be all or nothing.
Only a matter of time that the rest of football follows suit.
Rationing will also come in shortly.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
And why will rationing come in? Literally as much food now available as there has ever been.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Rationing is already in. Plenty of items are not available to buy at more than two at any one shop.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Is this actually what you're clinging on to because last week you said it would be rationing like the war. I spent 200 pounds on a shop two days ago. It didn't feel like the war to be honest.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I`m not hanging onto anything. It is you that is wittering on about rationing. Rationing of sorts is already in. Not sure why you are trying to make such a big deal about it.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I'm not. I'm pointing out that you said rationing would be in within days along with armies on the street. Mu point is that you were wrong about that in the same way you're wrong about the prem being cancelled. That's all.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Rationing of items has been brought in, in supermarkets, and the army are helping to distribute medical equipment and food supplies.

Although Liverpool fans are never going to agree I think this is the beginning of the slow march towards this season getting cancelled.
As I've maintained from the moment it shut down the powers that be would rather bin off the end of the 19/20 season than jeopardise the whole of the 20/21 season.
Its also impossible to take the current positions as final due to games in hand, easier run ins.....etc. I wouldn't have a problem with Liverpool being awarded the title as they were clearly going to win it but making an exception for one team would cause huge problems.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I just dont see clubs writing off the season when there are so many options. Can literally finish the season around December and fit things in alongside Quatar 22.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
You can't really think that finishing the season in December is worthwhile?
I've maintained since the start that my personal opinion is it's not worth ruining next season (and the various league competitions) in order to get this one finished, with a set of results that will be pretty meaningless anyway what with all the players back from injury etc.
As I understand it they've set a date in June as the last-possible resumption of the 2019/20 season in order to give teams a chance to prepare for 2020/21. If that can't be met the discussion should switch to provisions for next season, not carrying on a fruitless pursuit of a season that's ruined already.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I really don't understand this line of thought that we should scrap a season that's 75% complete to prioritise a season that's not even begun yet, especially when there's no guarantee next season will be a normal season anyway.
I still think Liverpool will just be awarded the title if the season doesn’t finish.

Agreed, this causes the least headaches and detriment, why have two stained seasons in a row when you can get away with just one.
The money men would rather not jeopardize the potential for a full and complete 2020/21 season.
Restarting behind closed doors could finish the season, but this season is already compromised, the whole integrity of the competition has unfortunately been brought into question, there would always be questions asked and I`m not sure how you can fairly award any promotions and relegations etc in these circumstances.

I agree. From a Spurs fan selfish perspective, doing away with the season would help us but they will finish the season. They got a whole summer to do it.
Liverpool fans need to understand that holding the view that this season will be null and void is a totally reasonable thing to think.
Although they don't frequent this forum I'm sure many pool supporters think that its the likelihood.
There will be winners and losers across the country. I'm sure most Norwich and Leeds fans will have very different ideas about what should happen.

I will think it is a likelihood when Sky say that all the Prem teams can keep the 30-40 million they'd have to pay back if the season was null and void and when the people that actually make the decisions stop saying that they'll finish the season. Until then it is mostly people with an agenda who don't want the season finished for their own personal reasons.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Sorry I have to agree with this. If the season does become void because they can’t finish it, then will be terribly unfair on certain clubs but unfortunately there will be no choice, but I personally think the season will end. Just seems to me a lot of people want the season finished purely to spite Liverpool, rather than the virtual pandemic situation. 100% there’s an agenda and I’m a Spurs fan.

Absolutely mate, I don`t get why posters think it is an ante-Liverpool agenda it aint. May as well say it is an ante-Barrow agenda, because they are well placed to win their league. It simply is not viable for this season to be prolonged to the point of ruining next season, when a 38 game season will be more valuable, than just finishing another 10 games this season.
In the end it will come down to pure economics, finish this season, and not play next season. Or cancel the remaining 10 games or so of this season, and then play a full 38 games season next season. It is a no brainer, which way it will eventually end up.

I don't get the flippant laughter at all. Look back on page 1 as to my views as to why this season will have to end a a new one start asap. They can't just run this season for an unlimited time as it will crush hundreds of teams lower down the pyramid whose season is now done and dusted and will need to get back playing at the earliest opportunity.
Yeah, there's loads with an anti-Liverpool agenda, especially on this site, but I don't. And no matter how it plays out I firmly believe Liverpool will get the trophy. But football in England is about more than the Premier League and we have to protect all those clubs at grassroots level the best we can. Give Liverpool the trophy they deserve but ffs, don't destroy the future of the game in the process.

But there's no guarantee we'll have a 38 game season next year, whereas finishing this season means the clubs are guaranteed their £40 million

They can cut the season by 2 months with ease next season. Just get rid of domestic cups and international breaks for friendlies/ nations cups, changing the format of CL will help too.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I keep seeing this get rid of the domestic cups argument. And it's stupid. Big clubs might not rely on gate receipts a good cup run can provide, but what about the Oldhams, the Macclesfields, the Southends of this world, who are struggling like f-ck, and for whom a plumb tie against someone like Liverpool or Man United fills the ground and swells the coffers? It's not just about the Premier League you know

----------------------------------------------------------------------
This. It's a bizarre viewpoint.
