To be fair though the USA has acted quicker than the UK so far in general despite Trumps nonsense or at least at state level.

So frustrating to think that we could have really closed this shat down weeks ago and not have much of a problem now and ironically Trump would find himself sitting as king of the world right now with the US economy going well but of course he couldn't see the bigger picture.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Trump's legacy will be the last month and next 7 months of his reign.

First month ain't gone too well,I would wager the next 7 months ain't gonna be that peachy either

You put more than 4 words together, therefore your comment is irrelevant in modern day politics. You just need to win over the stupid people that make up the majority and you win. The best way to do this is to lie and blame things on other people. It works and you win. It's all that matters

He will come up with nice rescue packages and handouts which will keep him safe unfortunately. His supporters still won't say anything against him just like Bojo fans won't say anything against the horror show he has dished up.

5 million claiming social in 1 week and the death count going through the roof.

He will need some rescue package to save him.The old maxim a week is a long time in politics seems pertinent here.People have short memories, what happens over the next few months will be his legacy

Spot on. He only has to keep the morons happy and they are the ones that don't particularly care right now anyway.

Yesterday the UK had 1400 cases today you have 2100, thats 50% up, you are in for a rough ride and the effects of the slow government reaction is starting to show.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
per capita atm Belgium and The Netherlands are in a far worse situation
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Indeed, can you imagine what state you are in next week.

Who is to say that the UK will be any worse than Belgium etc next week either?.

Why is the UK some 2 weeks behind most other European nations when in most cases the first deaths were on the same day or a day or 2 earlier/later

“The mortality rate is way, way down,” Trump said. “The people that actually die, that percentage is much lower than I expected.”

Why in the world would Trump's U.S. approval ratings rise during this period?

He has never been more incompetent.

Because you took measures two weeks later than Italy.

Italy closed down on 9 March, you closed down on 24 March.

to be fair US death rates are below 2% which is a surprise at this stage given numbers elsewhere, even the UK is up near 5%

It's more complex than being able to just apply what happens in one country to another. The issue appears not to do with countries but more how intense it is locally. It is not Italy as a whole that has been worst affected. It is a particular region of Italy where the spread was particularly intense. Trying to think of an analogy

That's not a meaningful statistic at all when there is a lack of testing

Population density in the states is far less than most European countries.

Todays sharp rise in confirmed cases in the USA is showing the trajectory path which doesn'y look good.

Increase over YESTERDAY in detected coronavirus cases. Grouping things by region helps even out disparities in testing rates.

South: +32%
Northeast (excluding NY): +30%
Midwest: +27%
West (excluding CA & WA): +23%
New York: +20%
California: +20%
Washington: +11%

+15,461 now

How much of this is due to growth in testing as opposed to actual growth in cases?

posted on 26/3/20

It has also had the largest single day confirmed cases of 13,968,to put that into context, the UK has a total of 11,658 since the outbreak began.
==========================

If that is anywhere near accurate, that is very frightening

I know there are those that are slating the U.K. Government, but in comparison to the USA - we’re doing bloody good

Judging by this and not knowing the actual numbers,it looks like hoping the virus slows down due to increase in temperature is hopeful thinking as the hotter parts of the US are seeing the biggest increases.

Doesn't look good

Take a look at the south - close in to the Louisiana State Post Mardi Gras (Mostly Big Easy's New Orleans greater area)

Louisiana now with 14.3 deaths per million residents, which is comparable to New York (14.6 per million). And the number of hospitalizations is rising very rapidly there.

I’m quarantined for the next 14.

Wifefrom was exposed to 3 people who’ve tested positive.

I only have 20 beers. $hit just got real.

It was always going to happen. We both work in human services. Working with folks with various disabilities.

We’ve limited our social contact as best we could but we are essential employees, so folks depend on us.

But We stocked up on goods, selfish or otherwise and we will manage the lockdown fine.

Can see dinner ok day 13 being canned beans and tuna though!

Those big climbs are coming from large urban areas, NYC/NJ has loads of testing as well now hence the big climbs. The UK isn't in better shape at all in reality with little testing going on.

The accuracy in the death rate is more of a true indicator of the spread of the virus,as per capita the USA is faring ok,but there have been huge jumps in confirmed cases and deaths over the last couple of days

Even the markets seem to be behind the U.K. at the moment compared to the dollar. The pound has clawed back 8 Cents in three days.
