Drogba - Over Rated

His record against us was shocking. He scored in a few finals and bullied Arsenal. Wouldn't have him above the likes of Shearer, Aguero, Henry, Rooney,

He gets talked up because he turned up in finals but doesn’t come close to the likes of Henry, Ageuro etc

posted on 27/3/20

I disagree. He was pretty lethal and his record in big games and finals is outstanding.

Also note he never took pens.

I don’t judge players on just stats.

Drogba was an absolute tour de force and one of the best strikers we’ve seen over the last 20 years.

Fair point I suppose.

Don't get me wrong even despite the fact he was more of an all-round striker and even in most of them seasons under mourinho we'd win 1-0 or 2-1 i still think Drogba should of got 20+ a season more often

And i'm not saying i think Drogba was better than them people, but do think people under value his goal record a bit because they forget he rarely took penalties

I would be interested in comparing his record to others excluding penalties, but don't know how to find that information.

Drogba was a monster and a winner. He turned up in huge games unlike the Spurs guys, so I really wouldn’t even compare him to our bunch of losers. Sorry, I hate Chelsea with a passion, but Drogba is a legend. Won them that CL. Something us Spurs fans can only dream of. The guy is one of the best strikers of all time in the premier league.

i enjoyed the way he used to tear arsenal a new harris.

You've ignored all of my valid points though.

For every game he scored in a final, he wasn't as prolific against worse teams, and you have to take that into account.

He was the modern striker. Not the most prolific. Other than that two years he's goal record wasn't great but in a side that got goals from all over, he didn't have to need to be. Big game player as well. Greatest in the PL? Not for me. Shearer, Kun, Henry, Ruud, are some of the strikers I'd have above him.

The lad was class that's for sure.

His record is hardly shabby though is it? Jesus you are talking like he scored 50 goals for Chelsea in his career. He scored 172 goals in 390 odd appearances. Excellent record still. Not to mention the amount of important cup and title winning goals he scored. Legend and one of all time greats.

Drogba was bipolar, or he had a twin brother.

In one game he would be light and fall over a lot and not do much but complain.

In another he would year defenses apart and was like a rock. A true leader.

Is scoring a penalty a mark against a striker? They still had to score. Its akin to beating a weaker side, as in the team still has to beat what is in front of them.

Yea I don’t like it when people use penalty records as a thing to dismiss a striker.

It’s a art form in its own right.

It's good but it's far from 'fantastic' and nowhere near as good as the records of other strikers in the debate.

He’s a quality striker mate end of story, no 2 ways about it. A winner that has helped Chelsea win countless trophies with important goals. That’s what class does and Drogba was class.

Yes he can be considered among the best in the prem. One of my favourites.

posted on 27/3/20

Drogba on his game was better than most of the top strikers in the premier league. He had everything. He’s probably not on the level of Henry etc, but he’s still one of the best prem strikers ever.
