I think we'll see April 30th restart date pushed back further, then they will have to start looking at how they finish the season.

Will sponsors be wanting sponsorship money back for matches not played and therefore coverage not received? Shirt sponsorships normally have targets for sales which now aren't happening, the longer this goes on the bigger the sums involved, the more acrimonious this will get.

However, it is understood there was no agreement, with some clubs questioning why they should agree to effectively default on contracts when they had no immediate financial need, given the current coronavirus shutdown has only lasted three match rounds, covering, at the most, two home games.

How about the greedy bastirds cap at 6k and donate the rest to charity, or the covid fight?

They won’t do fack them, hope they go bust,

There comes a point where you can't keep pushing everything further on, the landscape has changed too much and you just need to move on and start afresh.

A precedent has been set now, that you can just cancel teh leagues, no promotion,. no relegation making it much easier to standardise that policy if needs be across all leagues, indeed it's hard to see how you can have one format for part of the game and another format for another part of the game.

There will be pressure from sponsors for recompense for lost revenue and potentially wanting that clawed back. Shirt manufacturers will have targets with clubs, those aren't being met, food suppliers have lost custom and Sky and other sports channels will be taking a massive hit and you will find financial pressures sometimes influence decisions in a way which they shouldn't.

Agents with deals lined up for summer will be keen to see those happen, so what happens when transfer window opens and bids are made for Philips and yet we are still waiting to conclude a season.

The longer this goes on, the more complicated it becomes, the more attractive the simplest of solutions becomes.

Be weird seeing Man City back in Champions League considering they were supposed to be banned next couple of seasons.

Yesterday's decision to void league season below National league I fear is a pre curser of things to come as how can the rest of the football pyramid even contemplate kicking a ball before August now. The Olympics have been cancelled for that period so why is Football going to be treated any different.
It's a freak occurrence and just bad luck for teams that looked like achieving a prize but you have to be realistic now and I'm starting to accept that if the season hasn't resumed by July it will be voided and then we'll see the lawyers no doubt take centre stage.

But commercial reasons do start to lead, just look at the mess over Emiliano Sala. Look at fans saying just play it behind closed doors with no real idea of the health implications that has.

It's not making decisions now that is the issue its actually the opposite, the longer there is no resolution the more the chance of just taking the simplest solution increases.

This is why it would be silly to decide now. If people want to go to court over this then I doubt they will be treated sympathetically. Let health be the primary reason and then sport There are millions facing financial hardship. Lots of time to finish the season if they don't hold firm to the start of next season.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
What about those who have already finished though? How long are they supposed to wait for without going to the wall?

Postponing Olympics, with worldwide participants, has many different considerations to that of one country’s domestic league(s).

Similar issues and concerns but a different matter.

I can see many countries returning to normal while others on lockdown.

Tell that to the people who already made the decision to void the season.

Why care about next season if this season over 80% complete is written off. Football needs to be very careful!

Obviously health is the most important thing at the moment but worse case scenario football wise and the season is void the Premier league will have to negotiate a compensation package with the top 6 of the championship.
I think it would be fair if they half the money that the bottom 6 of the Premier league would get for 20/21 and give that to the top 6 of the championship as it stands. That roughly equates to about 70million quid each.
I reckon The Premier league would probably get an agreement on a compensation package like that as it gives the likes of us WBA and Forest a good chance to go again next season with money to strengthen and for us to hold on to Bielsa.

Are daily updates useful?

This is not a situation that is going to become clearer for a few weeks at least.

This constant speculation just drives everyone in to a frenzy.

I get the need to end the uncertainty but its not within anyone's control.

Very pleased to see executives are included in this and that all the staff working at ER are being looked after. Brilliant response from the club - Liam Cooper is a giant! Well done Andrea Radrizzani! At least we have our house in order on this.

The premier league will probably just pay the FA to let us get promoted as they want us back Equally they'll pay to keep Hudds from ever making it back, they don't want the Bournemouth of North

At some point, deferred wages have to be paid. If these matches happen behind closed doors and Leeds don't get gate revenue the club is in for serious problems in not paying players.

Clubs where players have agreed to a cut will not face such issues.

I understand Hearts have ordered players to take 50% cut or they don't get paid at all.

It's good that everyone appears unified at Leeds at present, but the longer this goes on, the more the likes of Kiko and Bamford will be thinking, club now owes me 200k, 300k, 400k, how are they going to pay it?

What about the Costa contract, payment on that will be due end of June and we simply will not have the money for it.
