The only way you will get a sensible debate on this issue is if you don't include Liverpool supporters.

The ones on this forum cannot bring themselves to even contemplate it happening regardless of how sensible and likely it might be.

You basically need a 4 maybe 5 week window to end the season.
So whenever it is, it is.
Scrap all cup competitions, both domestic and European which I'm sure will happen anyway, and just get your domestic seasons done.
Could be this year, could be 2021.

I was hoping late summer August September time however I don’t think that will happen now.

Next year would be my guess

Why scrap cup competitions but not the league?

Indeed.
No point worrying about a season that hasn't started, when your 75% through the current one.
More likely to see 2020/2021 scrapped, that this present one, although I doubt either will be.
Who knows.

Season's done.

Liverpool fans won't accept it, but it is.

It doesn't need contemplation with several articles daily on when they have already decided on it, when they extended the league season indefinitely.

People keep overlooking this as for some reason they think ending one season and beginning another is less of a risk. Well that's not the real reason, we know what the real reason is.

We can contemplate it, we just don’t think it will happen
Uefa, the PL, and FA also agree

It’s too complicated and the financial cost would be massive.

I can see why a spurs fan wants it scrapped though

Gives you as much time as possible for domestic leagues to finish, play off games to be played, and in the case of European games, no travelling of fans abroad.
Even when this horrific pandemic is on its way out, no point taking unnecessary risks to reignite it.

But it isn't, which is obviously getting hard for you and others to accept.

The longer this goes on the less interest people will have in finishing the season.

Imo eventually it will be voided. We will be in lockdown for a lot longer.

Bored of debating it now, as I'm sure many others are too. Let's just see, eh?

I know I don’t get it, the season has been suspended indefinitely until it’s safe to play.
Uefa, FA, and PL say the leagues will be completed, but some here can’t except this

There's nothing to debate in regard to the league being over, and people not being able to accept it, because the league isn't over.
When, or if it is declared to be over, then there will be a debate.

I don’t think it’s as simple as just waiting until it can be played as squads will change which contravenes the league rules of registering players. Players contracts will run out etc etc.

It’s not as simple as people think it will be or want it to be.

If there no fans travelling to matches abroad, it’s highly
Likely there will be no fans attending games here too, so that just leaves games to be played behind closed doors, that goes for the cup competitions which are in their latter stages like the league

I dont really care anymore. I think people will show more and more apathy about finishing this season the longer we go on.

Rules can be changed.
Squads change in January, they can be changed again if the rules are changed.
Not that complicated, or at least not as complicated as trying to pretend that 7 months worth of football didn't happen, and the fall out that would come from that.

We I'm a wolves fan and I think it would be a disgrace to just abandon a season three quarters of the way through. There isn't a single reason why it would need to happen. Yeah but next season gets ruined? Does it? Why can't we play all this seasons games and next seasons? Surely that is the best for everyone, we all get ALL the games played so financially clubs will be better off and fans will get more football.

I don't think a premier league match being played in a full stadium this year

Even after the lockdown I imagine social distancing will be in place until either everyone can get tested or there is a vaccine.

Otherwise we'll just go through cycles of lockdown every few months.

I'm sure that was the if html about when they had their meetings and decided to extend indefinitely. There's a very easy way around it. Players continue to be paid on a week by week basis, basically on an ongoing weekly contract. No transfer or agreements allowed, until the agreed time.

It may not return until either there is a vaccine or herd immunity reaches 60%. You can't have players mixing or fans mass gathering. It could be over a year until it returns.
