Kane above Drogba? Blimey Don
----------------------------------------------------------------------

I love Drog, but Kane is one of the best prem strikers of all time mate. He’s certainly in the top 6/7. You need to take you’re west ham goggles off for once mate, Harry Kane is a phenomenal striker. His record speaks for itself.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Perhaps it's you who needs to take your spurs glasses off mate

Nope not at all. Everyone on here is in agreement that Kane is the top 10 of best prem strikers apart from you guessed it, a bitter Westham fan.

In terms purely of goalscorers I think it'll be between Shearer, Henry, Kane and Aguero as the best. Kane will ultimately reach their amount of goals before long and be in the reckoning. Between them all they all have the goalscoring consistency and longevity, whereas the rest don't really tick both boxes.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Kane will/would do if he has better players around him, will not in the present set up at Spurs

I'd say Kane was just in top 10 of prem era in terms of striker. I think having him in the top 5 is a bit ridiculous and overly bias.

So he’s top 10, but if he’s in top 5 it’s ridiculous and biased ? Bit weird.

Not prolific but Berbatov would be in my top 5 to watch.

I accept you get some enigmas like greeves and Romario that were known as bad trainers, but without undermining their ability, the pace of today's game would be way to much for jimmy. Exceptional player for his time though.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

That`s like saying would Aguero be able to play in ankle deep mud, with a ball that weighed a ton, and boots that were not very light.

Aguero versus Jimmy in the 1950s/60s would be amusing.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
You're probably right. He would struggle playing on pitches like the moon but my point with greaves is the fact he had immense natural ability but wasn't a strong trainer, going by stories I've heard and jokes told by former players

In today's games greaves and the Romario 's probably wouldn't get away with their antics. Clubs don't tolerate it. I said they were great players for sure but do you think Jose would let jimmy skip training to clean his rolls Royce 😅

Dif times are impossible to compare. I genuinely think players like Lee Trundle would've been amazing back in the day. Plenty others I think would make the transition to the modern pl, and some from the recent era, visa versa. I just think jimmy a bad example, and that's no slight on his immense natural ability.

Maybe. I think another two years injury free at the peak of his game and a trophy puts him top ten for me.

Worry is, this will be achieved elsewhere

Well Suarez was a better player than Kane.
Drogba immense in big games and won big trophies.
You're the only one I've seen who would have kane in the top 5..

I’m the one bigging up Drogba on the Drogba article below. It’s hardly Kane’s fault Spurs are a bag of s** when it comes to trophies, he’s doing his part with 30 goals a season. Consistent premier league top scorer, World Cup golden boot winner and probably the only player that will get anywhere close to Shearers record. Kane gets in the top 5.

posted on 29/3/20

Also who said anything about “players “, yes I know Suarez is a better player. Suarez is probably a better player than most on that list, but we are talking best strikers ever to grace the premier league and that includes goals to games ratio etc. Harry Kane’s record speaks for itself.

I get you don. However you still kinda say regarding having Ronaldo at number 1 it is about the best players no? Ronaldo wasnt a striker in the premiership.

Kane only got 30 goals a season one season didnt. Imagine without his injuries he'd certainly be knocking hard on the top 5 and looking to become if not the most prolific ever. Unfortunately I think being at spurs like you say and his injuries every season also will hinder him big time.

Goals to game ratio he can’t be beaten mate. When I say strikers to grace the premier league, I also mean them as in strikers in general so Ronaldo would count purely because of his exceptional goal scoring record and he was still a premier league footballer, hence why he tops my list.

posted on 29/3/20

The BBC list still classed Ronaldo as “striker” when they had him on the list. We could take him away if you don’t want to class him as a striker, but that’s just being a bit pedantic.

If Jimmy was playing in the modern age, then he would abide by the modern rules.

If it is pedantry you want then the article asks for the best goal scorers. Not strikers, not forwards, not elegance, passion, hold up play or anything else but goal scorers.

The beeb even help you a great deal by quoting their goal ratios! Even taking penalty takers into account the group quickly divides.

I’m a celtic fan with no axe to grind btw.

Henry for me.

Well said Don, It is the one thing I really detest, is where the modern generation of supporters just dismissing anything that went before as being inferior. It wasn`t.

Some of the modern goalies for a start, need to take a lesson in how to be a goalie from some of the oldies. I have never seen so many basic errors from goalies as in the modern age.

Well he had a decent enough goal rate this season when we've been complete shiiite, until he got injured.
