All the best to everyone in the new league from a big Man Utd fan.

The Premier League is in no danger.

What could be an eventual outcome of this (in 3 or 4 years) is a bigger CL, a PL2 (with the likes of Leeds, Fulham, Forest guaranteed a place) where we have 16 teams in PL1 and PL2, and a very different looking lower league picture.

Football as we know it is in danger.

Calls for league seasons worth 3-4 billion to be cancelled.

By next year, half the clubs could be finished and wound up, so we have to start everything from scratch. New league with new teams. Some things are more important than football.

It's been in danger for years, it's just taken a global pandemic for some people to actually think about it for the first time.

Liverpool are in a league of their own so perhaps there could be them in one league and the other PL teams in another, with no promotion or relegation to or from Liverpool's league.

FOOTBALL MEANS FOOTBALL

I think we should just have a 92 team league for a few years, then the placing a at the end of that determine what league you go into. Top 20 go into the Lubo Premier League. Next 24 into the Lubo Championship, and so on.

I guarantee you'd get a few lower league teams do surprisingly well, and at least one PL team end up in league 2. My money is on West Ham. What about you?

Some unlucky League 2 side would probably end up with a tough run of games early doors , and then have to spend about 2 years clawing back the goal difference.

Its true that Liverpool are in a league of their own but that's not to be taken literally, its just a figure of speech. In reality there are 20 teams in the league.

So you want a season consisting of 8372 games

That would take 20 years to complete

just relegate city.

bankrupt west ham and anyone else who tried to avoid relegation cynically.

promote a couple of champ teams and go with 16 clubs next year.

that'll give lads of time to play the rest of this season and serve karma to the whingers.

Show your working out?

I get 92 teams playing 182 games per season, 16744 in total.

Those games could be on the current schedule of 2 per week (assuming we don't bother with cups or internationals) taking us to 91 weeks.

If the season runs from May 1 to August 30 it would take 5.35 years to play out a full season. Say 5, if we fit a few more extra games in around Christmas.

Sounds like a winner. I'll get to work on the powerpoint.

Seeing as Sky will likely be pizzed off by this development, we'll need a new broadcaster. I propose that we give Dave exclusive rights. They know how to appeal to our target market.

You think Sky would have an issue showing a midtable clash as Forest Green Rovers and Northampton Town battle it out for 43rd place?

If you have a 92 team league, each team plays the other 91 teams twice, i.e. 92 x 91 games = 8372

We currently play 380 games a season. 8372 / 380 = just over 22 years

Currently we have 20 teams in the prem. 20 x 19 = 380 = total number of games to be played

24 in the Champ, 24 x 23 = 552 games

Sky would bankrupt themselves to get the tv rights at 999 trillion

posted on 31/3/20

At this moment in time, especially at this moment in time, with all games suspended, many clubs fighting for survival and facing bankruptcy, the last hing we need is a new league. The TV companies would love it, a much reduced PL, say 10 clubs or less, lets make in European, or even international! games all over the world, just to satisfy their pockets. No thanks.

The name of the game, pardon the pun, is survival. While it wasn’t perfect, the PL/EFL wasn’t broke. Yes, there was a complete imbalance between clubs and their respective finances, but with, I strongly suspect, the TV companies dictating the way forward, it would not bode well for football in England.

If you’re looking for a classic example of that, just cast your eyes north of the border.

Enough said.
