Is that the same presser where the ignorant buffoon proclaimed to know all about Seoul SK and then said it had a population of 38 million?

He's an embarrassment, I know he's been in office a while now but I still cannot believe he is president.

Trump is a complete jackass.

Most of the comments on that video in support of Trump are shill / bot accounts.

This ought to be the moment at which many of those who supported him realised that those obvious personality deficiencies are potentially dangerous. It's terrifying that his approval rating has actually gone up during this crisis and he's back to level pegging with Biden in the polls. I'm looking for someone to convince me this doesn't draw the complete picture.

When I watch Trump giving his pressers I think he just looks like he’s someone doing an impression of someone important and ripping him. It’s like a really bad spitting image sketch.

Not a dig at you, RR, and I generally agree re Trump, however, have you ever watched the oratory spectacle that is Joe Biden? Neither of them seem to have any comprehension of the words that come out of their mouths.

Yes, I have seen Biden. He's prone to gaffes and sometimes isn't great when put on the spot. Apparently he has a life-long speech impediment, a stutter, which sometimes gives the impression of fumbling with his thoughts. I thought he came across much better as a thinker and communicator in the last one-on-one debate with Bernie Sanders than he did amid the circular firing squad of the earlier debates. And for all his flaws, he's nowhere near as bad as Trump in terms of speaking nonsense.

What should be obvious is that the fundamental issue with Trump isn't his inability to speak in lucid sentences, but his habitual dishonesty, his strategic inconsistency (which is wrapped up with the dishonesty) and his corrupt assaults on the rule of law. None of those things can be seriously attributed to Biden.

I'm more concerned about the words that actually leave his mouth than the ones he struggles to deliver (see https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pWfHsKOCf9M for an example).

Trump has his fundamental issues without a doubt and I would not want him as POTUS had I been American, however, America (sadly, to an extent, the UK) love a statesman. I believe that, if Biden gets the democratic nod, Trump will do as he did last time and bully and chastise his way back into the White House. It's a sad state of affairs when your leader and chief is elected on the speed of his wit, but that is embedded within - particularly televised / streamed - politics right now.

I don't really have a horse in this race, but my instinct is that Bernie would be the conducive and (ironically) dynamic choice ultimately (health issues permitting).
That notion inherently means Biden needs to stumble...Continue stumbling, rather. Whether Bernie would be able to stand-up in a clash against Trump any better than Biden, I'm sceptical, but I think he'd be a very interesting choice as POTUS.

It probably doesn't matter; Bernie won all 55 counties of W. Virginia in 2016 and Hilary still got the nod...

rooney_hernandez, Bernie is undoubtedly the president I'd want, the president the USA and the world needs. But I'd hugely concerned about his chances of winning a general election. He has a much narrower base of support - basically lefty urban professionals like me. He performs best in the states that the Democrats will win whoever the candidate is. He'll struggle to get the votes of independents / economic liberals who dislike Trump but like the booming economy; he'll struggle to win back the culturally conservative post-industrial class that bought the lie of Trump's nationalism because he's tied to the 'right on' wing of politics and the Republicans will dig up all sorts of past quotes associating him with support for Cuba, the USSR, etc (the same tactic that was so effective at demonising Corbyn); African American turnout was key to delivering Obama victories and denying Clinton one, and that constituency is overwhelmingly behind Biden. I'm not saying that Biden can't lose to Trump, but the information I've seen so far suggests he has a much better shot than Sanders.

RR

There is no doubt that Biden would be handling this better than Trump because he doesn’t lie every time he opens his mouth.

The White House was finally honest last night with the reality of this outbreak.

Quite how Fox News (which was mostly responsible for his approval ratings) manages to now bluff their way out of this will be interesting to see.

When this is all said and done I expect to see massive law suits heading Murdoch’s way.

potus ratings during crisis mean nothing. once the pandemic comes under control people will talk about how it was handled, how trump sat on his hands for two months trying to protect his stock market, blaming everyone but himself.
even a small portion of his brainwashed followers will abandon him causing his precious ratings to drop back into the 30's % range.
even fox news cut him off when he starting rambling on about the bachelor like ratings for his press conferences.
