Pretax profit of 42m.

After tax deductions, looks like we don't have enough to cover the deficit all the way to summer when this season will be cancelled because of covid19 so as to allow teams to prepare for next season in spite of covid19.

“The Merseyside club’s owners will top up salaries to ensure no staff members are left out of pocket.”

Like many other clubs will be struggling, up with Spurs (if correct) with levels of greed. I would expect all PL clubs to be doing this once the season is cancelled

Not what Liverpool are supposed to be about

Must admit, I’m completely shocked by this.

Funny how those bin-dippers haven't drawn attention to this bit of news, but were here in numbers when it was Spurs in the news?

Shameless really

Shambles of a club

posted on 4/4/20

I thought, and hoped, that the adverse press Tottenham and Levy received after announcing they were doing this earlier this week, might just make other EPL clubs think twice about following suit. Apparently I was living in dreamland. Fully expect the rest to now, almost gleefully, fall into line with this now that a precedent has well and truly been set.

I hope once this terrible situation is over, we all remember how our clubs tried, and succeeded, in taking advantage of a scheme set up to help protect people working for businesses that were made most vulnerable by it.

This wasn't designed to protect billionaires' bank balances. This is no longer about Spurs or Liverpool being sh/t clubs. It's about the lack of morality in something that has been made to feel more superior, and untouchable than what it is. Football is not a necessity, It is entertainment.

Football has become such a rotten business. Let it rot.

That's exactly what you're doing now.

What have I scrambled anyway?

Burnley are saying they will lose 50m this season alone and other clubs could lose over 100m. I think Liverpool would be in the latter. If you look at Liverpool's finances, the club cannot cover that. Not all clubs have the cash reserves that United have.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I thought the immoral choice was to take action on staff while maintaining player wages. Players will be taking a 30% pay cut after yesterdays meeting.

Why can't people put aside club rivalries at this time and stick together?

any club taking tax payers more to supplement or pay non playing staff, while still paying the playing staff the full 10s of thousands a week needs to be kicked ou t os the EPL imo

not sure this is the case with liverpool but that is jus how i feel on the topic

I heard spanish clubs playing staff have to take a mandatory pay cut, these should be the first thing any club is has to do to do to take tax payers money. This should also apply to other big businesses where fat cats take home 100s of thousands a year

True, but the pl is the most morally corrupt and greedy league by a massive distance. Literally all that matters is cash. Don’t expect miracles.

I doubt that the clubs can impose à wage cut It would have to come from the players.

from what i have heard it has to be agreed to by the players

in spain i believe there is a clause in the contracts that allows the clubs to do so in times of crisis, not sure about EPL.

They won't don't because someone opened the door.

They'll do it because they have no choice.

that is the problem, unless there is a unified approach the people doing it will be perceived as gaining an advantage the longer it continues. I can understand why a club might want to do it but they should be heavy consequences unless the also impose a wage cut on players and other high earners too

posted on 4/4/20

I hope we don't do, Unacceptable from Liverpool.

posted on 4/4/20

Of course they have a choice.
And yes others will follow, it doesn't excuse Liverpool being one of the first.
It surprises me actually, I thought we would be one of the first?
Everything written above does not excuse them

Liverpool leading the way once Spurs greed was shown. Good job the players contribute high tax via wages to help cover this leeching
